President Bill Clinton Visits Casa de Campo Resort & Villas

(LA ROMANA, Dominican Republic) – Casa de Campo Resort & Villas – home to the Caribbean’s premier, luxury golf experiences, including the iconic Teeth of the Dog course – announces former U.S. President Bill Clinton visited the world-class destination on July 18 – 19.

Mr. Clinton, a regular visitor at Casa de Campo for over 20 years with a fondness for the Dominican Republic, was welcomed on arrival by the property’s President, Andrés Pichardo Rosenberg. Long an avid golfer, the 42nd U.S. President played the resort’s Pete Dye-designed La Romana Country Club course on both July 18 and 19.

Mr. Clinton has said Teeth of the Dog, a Dye-designed masterpiece long known as the best in the Caribbean, is one of his favorite golf courses in the world. The celebrated layout reopens to the public on July 28 after its annual month-long closure for maintenance.

In addition to a celebratory dinner at the resort’s SBG restaurant in its picturesque marina, where Mr. Clinton greeted and took photos with attendees, he also visited Altos de Chavón – an artisan’s village modeled after a 16th century Mediterranean city. There he enjoyed cultural tours through the Regional Archaeological Museum, Altos de Chavón Church, Amber Museum (fossilized tree resin), the La Tienda gift shop as well as its multiple craftsperson workshops.

Accompanied at Altos de Chavón by Jason Kycek, Casa de Campo’s senior vice president of sales and marketing, and Rolando González Bunster, CEO of InterEnergy and host of Mr. Clinton’s previous visits, he enjoyed touring and chatting with the classic artisan vendors whose work represents the rich Dominican culture. He bought souvenirs for his wife, daughter, grandson and friends as well as Creole cigars before watching local performers showcase the "perico ripiao, a classic Dominican dance.

“We’re so honored President Clinton took time out of his busy schedule to visit us here at Casa de Campo,” says Rosenberg. “He’s an extraordinary person and his love for the Dominican Republic and its people was wonderful to see in person.”
