Pound Ridge Golf Club Honored in Golfweek’s ‘Best Courses You Can Play’ in New York

(POUND RIDGE, N.Y.) – Pound Ridge Golf Club – legendary Pete Dye’s modern marvel in Westchester County – sits at No. 6 in Golfweek Magazine’s just-released “Best Courses You Can Play in New York.”

This is Pound Ridge’s 10th consecutive year in the top 10 in the golf-rich Empire State. The bucolic layout is Dye’s only New York creation and exemplifies his genius for creating exceptional shot values and a pure golf experience for players. Pound Ridge was also ranked No. 6 on the coveted list last year.

“We’re once again thrilled to be in the upper echelon of ‘best of the best’ courses in New York,” says Darren Wang, managing partner of Pound Ridge Golf Club. “Dye created a masterpiece design here and we look forward to our guests enjoying one of the truly special golf experiences in the region.”

Golfweek raters use 10 criteria to evaluate a course, including overall land plan, variety and memorability of golf holes, conditioning and ecology, and the "walk in the park test," which rates the sense of the course as worthy of spending four hours on it. The number of courses rated per state is based on course supply, population and level of play. The Golfweek rankings include daily-fee and resort courses.

Pound Ridge sits regally on 172 acres of pastoral Westchester County with dramatic rock outcroppings, streams and wooded, rolling hills converging to create an enjoyable and challenging par-72 course. Five sets of tees range from 5,151 to 7,165 yards providing challenges for golfers of all skill levels. Among its unforgettable holes is the dramatic par-5 13th which is home to “Pete’s Rock,” a giant boulder that rests in the middle of the fairway.

Pound Ridge recently announced it will host the 2020 Metropolitan Golf Association (MGA) Public Links Championship.  To be played next summer on June 10, the tournament will mark the 73rd rendition of the prestigious MGA event which is the oldest public golf course championship in the U.S.
