Catch Seven Former Masters Champs when the Mitsubishi Electric Classic Returns to Duluth this Spring

Vijay Singh and Mike Weir among players who previously captured Augusta’s green jacket

(ATLANTA) — Golf fans will have the opportunity to watch seven former Masters Tournament victors in action when Georgia’s only PGA TOUR Champions event returns to TPC Sugarloaf May 10-16.

Vijay Singh reached new heights as a professional when he captured his first Masters Tournament win in 2000. Singh earned his green jacket with an approach to eight feet on No. 17 and by birdying No. 18 to claim victory by three strokes over Ernie Els. Singh has 34 PGA TOUR victories and four TOUR Champions triumphs.

Mike Weir recorded just the fourth bogey-free final-round by a winner in the history of the Masters to win in 2003. Weir sunk a 6-foot putt for par on the 18th hole to force a playoff where he defeated Len Mattiace with a bogey on the first extra hole. This is Weir’s first appearance at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic.

World Golf Hall of Famer José María Olazábal won the 1994 Masters by three strokes over third-round leader Tom Lehman, and added a second green jacket when he finished the 1999 tournament two shots ahead of Davis Love III.  With six PGA TOUR titles and 23 international wins to his credit, Olazábal competed on seven European Ryder Cup teams between 1987 and 2006 and served as captain in 2012, recording a stellar resume of 18 wins overall.

Additional green jacket winners in this year’s field include:

World Golf Hall of Famer Sandy Lyle, who had a breakout year in 1988 when he was the one-stroke victor over Mark Calcavecchia, was the first British winner of the Masters.  The Scottish resident and five-time European Ryder Cup player also captured four titles and two major victories during his time on the PGA TOUR.

Mark O'Meara, who closed birdie-birdie to edge Fred Couples and David Duval and win the 1998 Masters Tournament, is a World Golf Hall of Famer with three PGA TOUR Champions victories.

Ian Woosnam holed an 8-foot par putt and edged out Olazábal for a one-stroke victory at the 1991 Masters. Woosnam has one PGA TOUR Champions victory.

Previously announced golf legend and two-time Masters champion Bernhard Langerhas also committed to the tournament. The five-time Charles Schwab Cup Champion captured his titles in 1985 and 1993.

“Welcoming these athletes, who have stood victorious on one of the biggest stages in golf, is an honor, and we’re thrilled they are part of this year’s field,” says Monte Ortel, executive director of the Mitsubishi Electric Classic. “These players represent a who’s who of golf and bring a rich history of play to our tournament.”

These previous Masters champions will be joined by 73 other PGA TOUR Champions professionals who are vying for a $1.8 million purse while also earning points in the race for the Charles Schwab Cup. The remaining field will be released in the coming weeks.

In response to COVID-19, the Mitsubishi Electric Classic is following all State of Georgia and PGA TOUR health guidelines to ensure the safety of athletes, fans, staff and everyone else involved with the tournament.

TaylorMade Golf Company Announces Dustin Johnson Spider Limited Commemorative Edition Ahead of the Season’s First Major

(CARLSBAD, Calif.)
– As the golfing world returns to Augusta just six months after Dustin Johnson’s record-breaking performance, TaylorMade Golf Company honors his major championship victory by announcing the Dustin Johnson Spider Limited Commemorative Edition putter.

This truly unique design is built to mirror the specs of DJ’s winning Spider. A seamless solid black crown is absent of any sightline, allowing him to aim with the topline while also promoting reliance on feel at address and during the putting stroke. In addition, it features a short slant hosel, a Counter Core SuperStroke GT 1.0 grip and two 9g weights placed in the heel and toe.

Subtle green accents have been added on the sole and back badge as a nod to the iconic venue, while a specialty box completes a springtime vibe. It’s outfitted with the 2020 Season’s Tradition putter cover he used the week of his victory.

"Growing up in South Carolina, winning in Augusta was my dream. When that dream finally came true last fall, I was speechless. The win was special for many reasons, as is the putter that helped me get the job done." -Dustin Johnson

The putter has been in DJ’s bag for 13 of his 24 PGA Tour wins, including his second major championship and the two victories leading up to it.

During the week of his major triumph, he rewrote record books with the lowest 72-hole score in tournament history at 20-under-par. He dominated off the tee, hitting 77% of fairways while averaging 307 yards. In turn, he dominated from the fairways, hitting 60 greens in regulation for a total of 83% and led the field in proximity to the hole (30’8”). With only four dropped shots on the week, he set another record for the fewest bogeys made by a tournament champion.

While his ball striking was superb, his work with the putter cemented his wire-to-wire victory. On the 12 greens he missed, DJ one-putted to save par nine times. In the final round, he closed the door on the field with birdies at holes 13, 14 and 15 – making putts of 13, 7 and 6 feet, respectively.

"This putter means a lot to me. For the golfers that get one, I hope it means as much to them." -Dustin Johnson

Here are marquee moments and stats from DJ’s 2020 major victory:

- Strokes Gained Putting (6-9ft): +.902 (1st)

- Total Strokes Gained Putting: +1.38 (6th)

- Led the field in GIR (82%)

- Led in Proximity to the Hole (30’8”)

- No. 1 in Strokes Gained Approach (8.78)

- No. 2 in Strokes Gained Off the Tee (4.92)

- Sets a new tournament scoring record of 20-under-par

- Fewest bogeys (4) across 72 holes

- 2nd major championship

- PGA Tour career victory 24

Buffalo will elevate Precision Pro Golf’s brand awareness with consumer and trade media across North America and build on the success and rapid expansion the brand has experienced since inception.

Soon-to-Open Gil Hanse Designed ‘New Course’ Highlights Enhanced Sustainability Approach at Les Bordes

Viable, sensitive management of all three courses, estate at forefront of property’s commitment to nature

(Loire Valley, France) – Set to be unveiled this summer, the New Course at Les Bordes is one of the golf industry’s most talked-about new design projects and is at the heart of a comprehensive new eco-strategy devised by the luxury estate to deliver improved sustainability on and off the golf course.

The exclusive French venue is working in association with the Golf Environment Organization (GEO) and following its ‘On Course’ environmental stewardship program to implement a 3-year plan that provides improved efficiency and a more sustainable performance across all areas of its estate.

As well as improving sustainability on its three courses – including the New Course, designed by acclaimed architect Gil Hanse and due to open on July 1 – Les Bordes is adopting a more enhanced approach to conservation across its other sectors, including its array of sports and lifestyle facilities, general estate services and management of hundreds of acres of natural woodland habitat in the Sologne Forest.

Lee Strutt, golf superintendent and estate manager at Les Bordes, said: “The sustainable management of all three courses and the wider estate is at the forefront of our long-term approach to the environment.

“We started implementing ways in which our operation can be run more sustainably to improve efficiency in 2020 and this will continue as we work through the GEO program. The New Course has been a main focus area for us to deliver better sustainability but there are many other environmental management practices that can be used across the wider estate, and we are aiming to introduce these over the next two years.”

A 90-minute drive south of Paris, Les Bordes Golf Club is a private members’ club and features 46 holes of golf – the 18-hole Old and New championship courses and the 10-hole Wild Piglet par-3 course.

The first golf course to be designed by Hanse in continental Europe, the New Course fits harmoniously into its surroundings. The fairways blend seamlessly into the natural vegetation and trees thanks to the care and attention implemented by Hanse and his team to preserve the habitat.

With a hard-wearing fescue grass species used for all fine-turf areas of the par-72 layout, the course design has created low maintenance areas, meaning maintenance costs have been significantly reduced with less irrigation, fertilizer and pesticides required.

The New Course has been planted with 250,000 new heathers to expand the catchment area for wildlife that benefits from the extended heather swathes. Most of the course furniture has been made using recycled material from the estate or material that has been locally sourced.

A new maintenance and water-management program has been implemented across the three courses to make fairways and greens firmer and faster, reducing irrigation levels and the electricity costs of the irrigation pumping station. The promotion of healthier turf has helped Les Bordes reduce the nutrient supplements needed by 40 percent.

The far-reaching benefits of Les Bordes’ upgraded eco-strategy can also be seen away from the golf courses, with the estate management team planning further improvements over the next two years to enhance the environment.

Among the measures being proposed is the development of a green-waste program – using grass cuttings and leaves to generate composted material for use around the estate including in the horse paddocks and the landscaping of the venue’s new residential properties – and increased woodland management to improve the visual appearance and screening of areas.

A review of both birds and animals’ natural habitats on the 1,400-acre estate, identifying where numbers could be increased to enrich the environment, is also set to take place alongside a drive to improve Les Bordes’ approach to recycling, waste and packaging. In addition, within the GEO program, there is a further incorporation of the clubhouse, hotel and service areas planned, including investigating the installation of light fittings that use less energy, with proximity sensors that automatically turn off light in rooms not used.

“These are early days for the estate in terms of improving our sustainable environment management but, with the changes that have been made on the golf courses, we have already made great progress,” said superintendent Strutt. “Everyone at Les Bordes has a long-term commitment to improving the estate by using sustainable practices that benefit the surroundings, are environmentally responsible and enhance the experience that we offer to our members and their guests.”

The July opening of Hanse’s New Course illuminates three years of investment at Les Bordes, developing a community where all family members have endless possibilities for fun and adventure. Completed on-site amenities include natural swimming lakes and pools, beaches, water sports, go-karting, fishing, equestrian, petting farm and biking and walking trails.

Future investment plans include an announced partnership with Six Senses for the transformation of the 19th century ‘Chateau Bel Air’ into a luxury hotel and spa, a village square with shops and restaurants and a variety of residential villas in various styles, as well as an equestrian centre, an organic farm, an art gallery and outdoor amphitheatre.

Six in a Row for BIG MAX in Golf Digest Editor's Choice Awards

(RELEASE)
— BIG MAX, Europe’s No.1 push cart brand is celebrating the sixth consecutive Golf Digest Editor’s Choice Award for its innovative line of push carts after the AutoFold FF won in the Compact Push Cart category.

“It really is testament to the quality of the AutoFold FF’s design, that 5 years after it won its first Golf Digest Editor’s Choice award it has won again, this time in the Compact Push Cart category,” commented Rick Oldach, CEO of BIG MAX USA. “Since that first win in 2016, we’ve won a Golf Digest Editor’s choice award for the Blade Quattro and secured a three-peat of wins for the Blade IP. Each of those wins has reflected the advances we’ve made as a brand, so this award is a worthy recognition that the AutoFold FF is still in the very top class of push carts.”

The success of the AutoFold FF is based on the folding mechanism that is still unique in the market. All three wheels automatically fold under the cart in one simple movement, leaving a Flat Folded unit that is small enough to fit in virtually any car trunk with a golf bag on top. When combined with its robust construction, 5 year manufacturer warranty and neat practical features such as large storage compartment, foot brake and Quick Fix points for accessories such as umbrella holder, the Autofold FF is the gold standard for stylish practicality on the course.

Oldach concludes, “To win such a prestigious award six years in a row is an incredible achievement. We know that our products are of the highest quality, and our 42% market share in Europe supports that. But to get a second back to back three-peat is beyond any expectations and shows golfers worldwide that BIG MAX really is the global leader in push cart design.”

The AutoFold FF is available in golf stores nationwide as well as on the BIG MAX website at us.bigmaxgolf.com.

New Flights to Hilton Head, Free Golf at Pinehurst, Bald Mountain Reopens

News and notes from around the Carolinas golf scene:

Hilton Head Golf Island Ramps Up Air Service

Have you ever wondered if you could fly directly in to Hilton Head Island? I mean, it’s only five miles wide and 12 miles long, right? Well, as a matter of fact you can via several major carriers and numerous direct flights. Touch-down to tee-off can take place in under 30 minutes … light work.

And in 2021, air service to Hilton Head Island is really taking off (sorry, had to do it); feel free to click here for an overview of new seasonal American Airlines routes for Hilton Head Island Airport and year-round Southwest routes for Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport.

A few quick facts about “Golf Island” to ponder:

-Hilton Head Golf Island is a collection of 26 premier resort and daily fee courses located on-island and off-island in the surrounding areas of Bluffton, Beaufort, Parris Island and Fripp Island.

-The concentration of courses on the island, which is only 70 square-miles, is one of the highest in the U.S., making it one of the best setups for 36 holes a day.

-Located along South Carolina’s southern tip, temperatures are five to 10 degrees warmer than other parts of the state in the winter, spring and fall, making for a true year-round golf environment. In the summer, well, it’s just plain hot. But wow, does that heat ever feel good on the back.

Situated next to The Cradle is the 75,000 square-foot 18-hole putting course, Thistle Dhu, calling to mind the legendary Himalayas Course at The Old Course at St. Andrews.

Chock-full of value, the Summer Tee Package also includes Pinehurst’s famous Southern breakfast and three-course dinner, daily, cart fees, club storage and unlimited use of the world-class practice facilities, complimentary shuttle service. Bald Mountain Reopens After Enhancements

It’s official … bald is beautiful and Bald Mountain is back.

The original W.B. Lewis-designed mountain-style golf course, will open April 1st after undergoing a series of enhancements in January and February to beautify its surrounds, increase overall playability and restore original shot values.

Throughout the 6,300-yard par-72 layout, tree canopy coverage was reduced, allowing for more sunlight to penetrate areas around tee boxes and green complexes. On several dogleg holes, tree lines were restored to their original borders, providing golfers more options on approach shots into greens. New turf was installed on several tee boxes and in fairways running up to green complexes.

As part of an ongoing investment in the property and golf physical plant, new signage has been installed on both Bald Mountain and Apple Valley and throughout the entire 3,000-acre Blue Ridge Mountain retreat. Both courses also feature new E-Z-GO cart fleets, bag drop areas and water coolers, and both practice ranges have brand-new performance-engineered mats and spacious hitting bays.

As the peak spring golf season gets underway, Rumbling Bald recently rolled out its 2021 golf packages. Starting at $345 per person, the “Hole-in-One” package features a two-night stay, two rounds of golf on Apple Valley and Bald Mountain, breakfast both days and complimentary, unlimited range balls. Lodging options abound, including the recently updated Apple Valley Studios and two- and four-bedroom Fairway Villas.

Paying homage to the 2021 Ryder Cup at Destination Kohler’s famed Whistling Straits in Wisconsin, Rumbling Bald is offering a limited availability “Ryder Cup Package.” Expert golf vacation planners are available to design an exciting, Ryder Cup team formatted event for golf groups in search of an unforgettable experience.

The Ryder Cup Package starts at $589 per person and includes: three nights lodging; three rounds of golf scored and handicapped; complimentary replays on either course; a team shirt and hat; private, one-hour opening reception with wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres and unlimited use of the practice facilities.

For groups of 12 or more, Rumbling Bald offers gratis golf for group leaders upon booking their first trip to the property. The “12+ Comp” is ideal for PGA Professional-member trips, tournaments, or large golf buddy trips.

Srixon Introduces Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE: Start Seeing Double

(HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.)
— SRIXON, a global leader in golf ball technology and innovation, announces the all-new Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE. This exciting new golf ball offering from Srixon officially launches in North America on April 15, 2021.

“The new Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE looks great, but it’s so much more than that,” said Brian Schielke, General Manager at Srixon. “Easier putting alignment and increased visual feedback on your chip and pitch shots really adds to the greenside performance. It’s a ball every golfer must try.”

The Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE is different, featuring a new thermoplastic urethane cover that has been infused with bright pigments rather than being painted on. The 50/50 Matte Urethane Cover delivers a high contrast, matte cover that provides the same tour-level spin and stopping power you’ve come to expect from the original Q-STAR TOUR.

With DIVIDE’s unique two-tone cover construction, putting alignment comes easy with a 360° line, while every shot will produce a strobe effect to help show off the speed and direction of spin.

DIVIDE might not look like a classic golf ball, but it still delivers true tour performance. Featuring the same FastLayer Core and 338 Speed Dimple Pattern found on the classic Q-STAR TOUR, DIVIDE provides the distance and control expected from a tour-caliber golf ball.

Key Technologies Inside Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE:

- New FastLayer Core: The new FastLayer Core offers distance and soft feel without compromise due to a gradual transition from soft inner core to firm outer edge.

- 50/50 Matte Urethane Cover: The high contrast, matte cover makes spin visible and putting alignment easy. It’s cast from soft urethane for tour-level spin and stopping power.

- 338 Speed Dimple Pattern: Providing a penetrating ball flight in any conditions, the 338 Speed Dimple Pattern increases lift and reduces drag to maximize distance.

USGA Seeks to Enhance Female Golfer Engagement Through New Collaboration with Fore the Ladies

Organizations will join forces to elevate and support women’s golf

(LIBERTY CORNER, N.J.) – In its continuing effort to increase opportunities for more women to play and embrace the game, the United States Golf Association (USGA) announces a collaboration with Fore the Ladies, Inc., a nonprofit female-based community that brings women together to participate in golf through accessibility and approachability.

Founded in 2019 by USGA staff member Abby Liebenthal, Fore the Ladies marries her two passions, engaging golf fans through the USGA and promoting women’s golf. In addition to clinics, a fitness series and larger events, Fore the Ladies fosters inclusivity with its Ladies of Golf series on the “Fore the Ladies” podcast. The USGA will collaborate with Fore the Ladies to introduce its listeners to women who work in, play and love the sport across the USGA network – expanding its list of competitors, media, leaders, prominent recreational golfers and others who help to power the $84 billion industry.

“Women play a pivotal role in the game and in its future and it is our responsibility to do all we can to connect them with inspiring female role models and provide inspiration on how to get involved and stay involved,” said Craig Annis, chief Brand officer of the USGA. “We look forward to working with Fore the Ladies as we strive together to elevate and expand the role that women play in golf.”

The collaboration is the latest in a series of USGA initiatives to actively elevate and highlight the role that women play in the game, an effort that began in 1895 with the inception of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship. It is one of the USGA’s three oldest championships along with the U.S. Amateur and the U.S. Open, both of which were founded the same year.

Most recently, in cooperation with SheIs, the USGA launched the “Women Worth Watching” campaign, a long-term commitment by the association to use its championships and platforms to celebrate female athletes while promoting equality and diversity in sports and society.

Additionally, the USGA has been an active supporter of LPGA*USGA Girls Golf since 1991, providing more than $2.5 million in chapter grant funding over the last six years, while the USGA Golf Museum and Library serves as the world’s leading institution for the collection and preservation of women’s golf history.

“Our goal has always been to introduce more women to everything that golf has to offer,” said Liebenthal, USGA employee and founder of Fore the Ladies. “The ‘Fore the Ladies’ podcast allows us to amplify voices of women in the game and encourage listeners to get involved at our events and clinics. This collaboration will allow us to reach more women interested in golf and hopefully keep them in the sport for a lifetime.”

According to the USGA’s Handicap Index database, 21 percent of golf’s most avid players are women. National Golf Foundation (NGF) statistics show that the number of female golfers increased by 450,000 in 2020 – the biggest gain since 2007, while on-course play among women was up approximately 25 percent. The number of girls playing golf is also expanding, as the percentage of junior golfers who are female stands at 34 percent, compared with 24 percent female among the entire golf population. In 2000, according to the NGF, just 15 percent of junior golfers were girls.

“I’ve seen firsthand how special Fore the Ladies and Abby Liebenthal are for women and the game of golf,” said Lindsay Cauthen, director of marketing at Pinehurst Resort and Spa. “Recently Pinehurst Resort hosted our first Fore the Ladies weekend with nearly 70 women from across the country and it was incredibly successful. We look forward to seeing this collaboration between the USGA and Fore the Ladies flourish and are thrilled to be along for the ride.”

Toptracer Launches “Driving Challenge” Game at Toptracer Range Locations Around the World

(DALLAS)
– Toptracer, the world’s leading ball-tracing technology, today unveiled “Driving Challenge,” which taps into golfers’ insatiable desire to drive longer and straighter. “Driving Challenge” joins a robust line-up of game options at its 350 Toptracer Range locations worldwide.

Toptracer is on a crusade to grow the game through bold, innovative technology and gamifying the range experience. Toptracer’s “Driving Challenge” allows golfers of all skill levels to “grip it and rip it” in a risk vs. reward nine-hole game scoring both distance and accuracy.

“The tee shot is golf’s most visceral experience. Toptracer has harnessed that raw power in a competitive nine-hole game created specifically for our range technology,” said Toptracer President, Ben Sharpe. “Our ongoing goal is to build an environment filled with traditional and non-traditional golfers who enjoy the game on their terms. We are providing a positive experience for people of all skill levels that elevates the entertainment value of the game.”

Each drive starts with a virtual flyover of the hole to help determine an aiming point, while a heat map shows players where best to place their drive to achieve maximum points. Up to eight users can simultaneously compete, teeing off on nine holes, all of them being par 4’s or par 5’s. Points are awarded for the length of the drive and its accuracy. If players don’t hit the fairway or the pin is obstructed from the next shot, there is a penalty. As with other game modes, players can sign into the Toptracer Range app to view progress and compare scores with friends.

Dumbarnie Links To Host 2021 Women's Scottish Open

(FIFE, Scotland)
– Dumbarnie Links, Scotland’s newest true links golf course, will host the Women’s Scottish Open August 9 – 15, 2021. The co-sanctioned Women’s Scottish Open is an integral part of the golf calendar, sitting on both the Ladies European Tour and the LPGA schedules, and is held a week prior to the AIG Women’s Open. Trust Golf, part of the TCT Corporation, will title sponsor the Women’s Scottish Open this year, giving the prestigious event a major boost alongside a new long-term commitment from the Scottish Government.

Dumbarnie Links opened for play on May 29, 2020 and has since received the highest of accolades and praise throughout the golf world. The stunning Clive Clark design, located eleven miles from St Andrews, measures 6,905-yards and plays to a par of 72. Dumbarnie Links is built upon land that is part of the historic 5,000-acre Balcarres Estate.  Its 345 acres of genuine sandy links land offers unobstructed views over Largo Bay and the Firth of Forth, a 10-mile wide stretch of water, with views across to Muirfield, North Berwick and Edinburgh. The routing is a departure from the usual. Instead of the traditional out-and-back layout, Clark incorporated a mix of two big loops with elevated tees facing into the Firth of Forth.

First staged in 1986, the Women’s Scottish Open is played with a full 156-strong player field and has a $1.5 million (U.S.) purse. The event underlines Scotland’s commitment to growing women’s golf. Previous winners include Stacy Lewis in 2020, Mi Jung Hur, Ariya Jutanugarn, Mi Hyang Lee, Isabelle Boineau, Rebecca Artis, Trish Johnson as well as Scotland’s Carly Booth and Catriona Matthew who is a double winner.

“We are honoured to have been selected to host the 2021 Women’s Scottish Open and look forward to welcoming the players to our genuine links course,” said Dumbarnie Links Founder and Architect Clive Clark.

With travel restrictions in place since the Club opened, the Scottish golf community embraced the Links as their own and enjoyed many, many rounds at Dumbarnie, with golf journalist and Fife local Malcolm Campbell prophetically proclaiming on opening day: “You could play The Open Championship on this course right now! It is first-class as this piece of land was just made for a true links course.”

“August the 12th and day 1 of the Championship can’t come soon enough,” said David Scott, PGA, general manager, Dumbarnie Links. “The Team and I are so looking forward to welcoming the best women players in the world and showcasing Dumbarnie Links across the globe.”

Forbes Ranks Branson (Missouri) No. 4 in its ‘Top 10 Best Places to Travel Now During the Pandemic’

LedgeStone

Destination’s 10 Golf Courses and Other Activities Enable Safe Recreation and Social Distancing

(RELEASE) – Both the golf industry and Explore Branson – the Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) for the town and surrounding area in the southwest Missouri Ozarks – reported better than expected numbers in 2020, a trend that has continued into 2021. Now Forbes is doing the same.

It recently published its “Top Ten Best Places In America To Travel Right Now And Avoid The Pandemic,” and Branson is ranked No. 4 in the country. To compile this list, Forbes overlaid more than half a dozen maps and criteria like the CDC COVID Data Tracker, the Harvard-Brown COVID Risk Level Map, and TripAdvisor reviews, including current case counts, population density, average weather, public health guidance, proximity to outdoor activities, and drive times from at least two major American metropolises. It also looked at new cases per 100,000 people, 7-day rolling averages, total cases, and total deaths to assess the current coronavirus infection risk relative to historical trends dating back to the beginning of the pandemic.

That Branson fared so well in the Forbes’ compilation was an inspiring reinforcement, given that the study results mirrored state and regional trends and case numbers. The destination is known for its lakes, live entertainment theaters, family friendly atmosphere, and increasingly its rising-star golf destination. Golf plays a key role in Branson’s safe Forbes’ rating, given there are 10 courses, all of which provide inherently safe havens simultaneously enjoying recreation with friends whilst practicing social distancing.

“This list of best places to safely travel couldn’t come at a better time for Branson,” said Lynn Berry, Director of Communications, Branson Convention & Visitors Bureau. “With the weather becoming more pleasant by the week, our world-class golf destination, incredible hotels, resorts, restaurants and many other attractions are well-suited to provide guests with fun, safe, and memorable experiences.”

Branson has a variety of exceptional golf courses that are close to one another, hold critical acclaim, and offer great restaurants, lodging, and after-golf diversions. The newest – Payne’s Valley by Tiger Woods – is brand new and just recently opened for its first full season. Four other Branson courses are rated among the top 10 in Missouri – Ozarks National (No. 1), Buffalo Ridge (No. 2), Branson Hills (No. 3), and LedgeStone (No. 7). Additionally, Ozarks National and Buffalo Ridge were honored as “Top 100 Courses You Can Play in America,” ranking nos. 64 and 83, respectively (out of roughly 13,500 U.S. playing venues).

Thousand Hills (Bob Cupp design), The Pointe, and Holiday Hills complete Branson Golf’s roster of 10 courses, and each has earned appreciation for their playability and value.

Mystical Golf also highlights the striking results of a comprehensive $750,000 renovation. The 142 bunkers on all three layouts were completely rebuilt and now display vibrant, eye-catching white sand creating an incredible contrast with the brilliant green fairways and greens.

Starting at $133 (per person, per day, taxes included), Mystical Golf’s three-day Gold Package features three rounds with cart on each of the acclaimed Mystical Golf layouts (plus one additional complimentary afternoon round), three nights’ lodging in well-appointed three-bedroom villa (four beds), free IHOP breakfast daily (available 24 hours per day), and a gratis steak dinner at Logan’s Roadhouse (includes non-alcoholic beverages, taxes).

Added package highlights include two free beers and lunch at the course each day, complimentary daily range balls, instant replay round for cart fee only, and $15 gift card toward a golf shirt in any of the three well-stocked pro shops. Extra night stays are available at a moderate cost per person.

The Silver Package begins at $123 (per person, per day, taxes included) and features all the components of the Gold Package above except the complimentary round, daily breakfast and steak dinner. Both stay-and-plays offer one complimentary golfer for booked groups of 20 or more players.

“Our guests constantly rave about the ‘incredibly green’ course conditions we feature here in spring,” says Claude Pardue, President and CEO. “We provide everything needed for a stress-free and wonderful golf getaway, so start the golf season off right here at Mystical Golf.”

Its three layouts are highlighted by wonderfully fun elements including the only back-to-back island greens in the game (Man-O-War), a front nine of dramatic holes weaving through secluded swampland teeming with wildlife (The Witch), and a splendid layout reminiscent of Scotland and Ireland’s classic courses complete with authentic sod-faced bunkering and castle-style clubhouse (The Wizard).

Man-O-War’s 15th hole ranks among GOLF Magazine’s “Five Most Memorable Island Greens” alongside No. 17 at TPC Sawgrass, the “Alcatraz” hole at PGA West’s Stadium Course and Coeur d’Alene Resort’s movable, floating putting surface. The Witch is praised by PGA.com for presenting one of America’s “great 9th holes” and The Wizard has earned 4-1/2 stars from Golf Digest.

Miura Golf Ships Highly Anticipated Jack Nicklaus Commemorative Irons

The latest collaboration from Miura marks Nicklaus’ return to the equipment space

(Scottsdale, AZ) — After months of anticipation, Miura Golf today, on schedule, announced it has begun shipping limited edition Nicklaus-Miura Commemorative Irons to customers. The historic collaboration from the Japanese manufacturer and the 18-major winner are the first clubs to bear the Nicklaus name in more than a decade. The limited series of hand-forged Miura blades reflecting Jack’s preferred specifications will be shipped to collectors who prize both beauty and function.

Jack and Miura patriarch Katsuhiro Miura both epitomize timeless class, exacting attention to detail and unrivaled performance. The living legends have produced a modern version of the classic Nicklaus blade that captures the essence of their lifelong commitment to perfection.

The Nicklaus-Miura Commemorative Irons sold out within a week of first being announced during Jack’s Memorial Tournament in July 2020.

“The overwhelming response to the Nicklaus-Miura Commemorative Irons illustrates the demand for selectively incorporating Miura’s legendary standard of excellence into collaborations that produce exquisite results,” Miura Golf CEO Hoyt McGarity said. “This is the best way to reintroduce Nicklaus irons to a new generation of golfers, and that’s by pairing the greatest golfer with the greatest forger for an iron that truly is worth the wait. This artisanal adaption of the Nicklaus blade represents the long-sought revival of the Golden Bear.”

Crafted with input from Jack to match his preferred club design and functionality, the irons were forged in the Himeji, Japan factory to produce the unmistakable Miura feel. Forged from premium S20C soft carbon steel and finished in satin chrome, the most defining characteristics of the Commemorative Irons are its unique look and sole. Through subtle grinding techniques, the center of gravity is a bit closer to the toe, while making certain that the distribution of weight in the head followed the design specifications Nicklaus preferred and used while on Tour.

College Golf Experience Launches with Exclusive Endorsement from Golf Coaches Association of America

Entities unite to connect college coaches and junior golfers

(LOS ANGELES, CA) – Newly-launched College Golf Experience (CGE) and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) have combined forces for a first of its kind endorsement, leading to junior golfers having unprecedented access to learning what collegiate golf is like directly from coaches and players. Through this innovative partnership, coaches will showcase their programs via camps and unique events presented by CGE and participating college and university golf teams.

CGE was formed by golf industry leader Joshua Jacobs, founder and CEO of TGA Premier Golf, the top provider of after school introductory and camp-based junior golf programs. TGA is on pace to register its 1,000,000th junior golfer in 2022 and engages 50,000+ juniors per year through its golf programs.

“College Golf Experience is committed to building value for college coaches and creating unique and transformational opportunities for junior golfers at all stages of development with an emphasis on aspiring collegiate student athletes,” stated Jacobs. “CGE is a tremendous opportunity for young men and women, regardless of their playing level, to learn, compete and showcase their talents while interacting with college coaches and players in an immersive, fun, and educational setting. Having played college golf, I wish I’d had the chance to ask collegiate coaches and players about life as a college golfer, setting expectations and achieving my goals. Our participants will leave the CGE with a clearer vision of college golf and the road that leads there.”

CGE establishes opportunities to prepare young athletes for the future and allows coaches to connect with potential recruits. CGE represents a logical progression that advances the junior golf Player Pathway.

“The GCAA is excited about the additional opportunities for its member coaches that the College Golf Experience (CGE) is going to provide,” said GCAA CEO Gregg Grost. “The exposure that collegiate golf camps provide junior golfers is in many cases the first opportunity to meet a college coach, interact with college players and experience a college campus.  The commitment that CGE has to assisting coaches with their camps and making sure that the instruction level, curriculum and information pertinent to college golf is first class is why this endorsement makes so much sense for the GCAA.”

The partnership will provide flexibility for college coaches to participate in camps and other transformational experiences. All events cut directly to the core of detailing life as a college golfer, promote skill progression, and educate about the jump from junior to college golf. Participants receive professional skill-based instruction at top-tier golf facilities directed by collegiate coaches.

"I am excited for both coaches and juniors to work with College Golf Experience," said GCAA President John Kennaday. "We are endorsing this service to aid coaches who otherwise may not be able work with a trusted partner for their camp. In turn, we are proud to say juniors will be given more opportunities to interact with actual college coaches and receive the most up to date information regarding recruitment to college golf."

Campers engage in seminars related to: formatting communications to college coaches, learning what it takes to play golf at the collegiate level, life of a collegiate golfer, and learning how to separate from other recruits; as well as skill contests, simulated practice round and tournament experiences, Q&A discussions with their parents, and coach to junior player evaluations.

Additional information is available at www.collegegolfx.com. Locations and dates for CGE camps at college campuses nationwide and other unique experiences will be announced this spring.
