(Scottsdale, Ariz.) - Troon, the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing announced an agreement with the Meydan Group to manage Meydan Golf, a new Peter Harradine-designed, nine-hole floodlit course alongside the Meydan Racecourse and The Meydan Hotel.

Meydan will operate as a daily-fee facility uniquely positioned as an accessible and player-friendly option for golfers in the region, catering to every type of golfer. Included in the facilities will be a floodlit driving range and Academy by Troon aimed at both inspiring new golfers and developing current players looking to hone their skills. Open until midnight, the nine-hole course stretches over 3,600 yards from the back tees, and works its way between a series of natural lakes.

"This is certainly a bold and exciting move from Meydan Group and we are positive that this type of golf option will be embraced in Dubai," said Bruce Glasco, senior vice president, managing director, International Operations. "Fresh initiatives are key to growing the game and we are confident Meydan Golf will attract new players and gain the attention of those visiting the region."

Meydan Golf is located next to The Meydan Racecourse, home to Thoroughbred racing and the Dubai World Cup (the world's richest horserace), as well as a tennis academy, making it one of Dubai's most cherished sporting and leisure destinations. A soft opening of the course is planned for late March 2012, in time for the Dubai World Cup.

"This project is a key strategic initiative in the overall development of Meydan as a center for leisure and business," said Meydan chairman of the board and CEO Saeed H. Al Tayer. "The developments of Meydan complement one another to feature an enticing alignment of work, leisure and lifestyle. We are pleased to showcase this development to coincide with our internationally famous signature event - the Dubai World Cup."

A fully equipped clubhouse will complete what is without doubt one of the finest new additions to golf in the Middle East. The clubhouse will feature a boutique golf shop, full locker room facilities, and multiple dining options including a family-friendly restaurant and a lively sports bar. Just a 10-minute drive from the Downtown Burj Dubai area and a 20-minute drive from most areas of Dubai and the international airport, the unique city location offers guests unforgettable views of the Dubai city skyline and iconic Meydan Racecourse facility.
