Going the Distance Awards program encourages consumers to nominate individuals who have shown a personal dedication and passion to the cause
(Fairhaven, MA) – Pinnacle, a leader in the distance golf ball category, announced the launch of the Going the Distance Awards, a program celebrating and honoring remarkable individuals who are making a difference in the fight against breast cancer. Individuals can be nominated for an award by anybody who chooses to share an inspirational story about the nominee at PinnacleGolf.com or Facebook.com/PinnacleGolf. Nominations can be made through March 30 and honorees will be announced in May to coincide with Mother’s Day.
“Pinnacle is celebrating amazing individuals who are making a difference in breast cancer research, education and awareness,” said Mary Lou Bohn, Vice President, Golf Ball Marketing and Communications. “Breast cancer is one of the leading health issues facing women and their families today, so this disease touches golfers everywhere. By honoring and sharing stories from those in the golf community, we hope to inspire others to join the fight to find a cure.”
Going the Distance Awards honorees will be determined based on four key criteria – a strong tie to breast cancer; personal dedication to the fight against breast cancer; impact on others’ lives or the community; and a passion for golf. A judging panel that includes representatives from Pinnacle, Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, and the golf media will choose the final ten Going the Distance Award honorees.
The final 10 honorees will have a $10,000 donation made in their name to Susan G. Komen for the Cure to help fund critical breast cancer research. Donations from this program will go toward life-saving breast cancer research at the national level. Along with the donation, each honoree will receive Pinnacle Gold Ribbon White and Pink golf balls, a custom Pinnacle hat, a pair of custom MyJoys shoes and a FootJoy jacket. Additionally, each individual who nominates an honoree will receive Pinnacle Gold golf balls and a custom Pinnacle hat.
Pinnacle has been associated with Komen since 1995 and features Komen’s logo on their Gold Ribbon 15-ball packaging. Pinnacle also stamps the Komen Running Ribbon on each Gold Ribbon golf ball as a distinctive reminder of the importance of early detection.
