PKBGT & Rocket Tour Partner to Enhance Competitive Golf Opportunities for Girls

(Greensboro, N.C.)
— The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls' Golf Tour is pleased to announce a continued partnership with Rocket Tour Golf as the presenting sponsor of the ROCKET TOUR PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP at the University of Georgia Golf Course on February 6-7, 2021.

The ROCKET TOUR PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP, one of the longest-running events on the PKBGT circuit, will crown the ninth champion on February's first weekend. Past champions have gone on to collegiate careers at top Division I golf programs, including 2017 champion and Vanderbilt stand-out Louise Yu. The defending Bell National Champion Allie Kantor (Milton, GA 2021) signed to play collegiately at the University of Virginia.

Rocket Tour has been the presenting sponsor of the Players Championship since 2015. As a part of the sponsorship, custom limited edition PKBGT knit headcovers are given out as a tournament gift. PKBGT players sport these limited edition headcovers with pride, knowing they earned the right to play in the prestigious Rocket Tour Players Championship. The Rocket Tour Players Championship has steadily grown into one of the most popular events to compete in on tour.

This year, in the ninth edition of the Players Championship, the tour received more applications to play than any other year!

Founded in 2004, Rocket Tour designs headcovers that are a "unique mix of classic and modern with a stylish fun twist to encourage self-expression." The fine quality knit covers are personally designed by founder Helena Stanton and hand-finished in Boulder, Colorado. Rocket Tour currently outfits more than 250 collegiate golf programs, junior golf programs, state golf associations, and charity initiatives.

"We are thrilled to be the PKBGT presenting sponsor for the 7th consecutive year. I look forward to the Rocket Tour Players Championship every year” says Helena Stanton, Rocket Tour Founder and CEO. "The PKBGT team does an amazing job and It is remarkable to see so many gifted girls compete at such a high level. I could not be more proud to be the host sponsor. Rocket Tour is committed to developing the game and believes that tournaments such as this event are important to junior golf as competition is a main ingredient for future participation. We hope these girls go as far as the game will take them and look forward to seeing many of them join their peers at top university programs around the country."

"The Girls Golf of America Foundation and the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour are proud to partner with Rocket Tour Golf to promote girls golf,” Mike Parker, PKBGT Director stated. “Rocket Tour is a long standing supporter of girls competitive golf and the girls display the custom headcover in their golf bags with pride.”

Laguna Golf Lang Co Joins Elite Club

Asian Tour Destinations collective bids to grow game and reboot golf tourism

(LANG CO, Vietnam) —  Laguna Golf Lang Co, one of Vietnam’s leading clubs, has joined forces with other top tests around Asia to help grow the game and accelerate the recovery of golf tourism in the region.

The award-winning club, whose Sir Nick Faldo Signature layout is regarded among the best in Vietnam, recently became part of Asian Tour Destinations: an exclusive network of elite clubs with direct ties to the Asian Tour.

Joining Laguna Golf Lang Co in the collective are Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore, Horizon Hills Golf & Country Club, and Kota Permai Golf & Country Club in Malaysia, Sapporo Country Club, and The North Country Golf Club in Japan, Black Mountain Golf Club in Thailand and Classic Golf & Country Club in India.

According to Cho Minn Thant, Commissioner, and CEO of the Asian Tour, “the main objective of Asian Tour Destinations is to provide an affiliate membership program between the associated venues and the Asian Tour, to drive sustainable growth and development for the betterment of golf in the region as a whole.”

Being a part of the Asian Tour Destinations network means that each venue is certified Tour calibre and operates a comprehensive range of facilities and services to their members and guests under tournament-ready conditions all-year-round. The Asian Tour has also been a longtime supporter of the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final which is hosted by Sir Nick Faldo at Laguna Lang Co each year.

Among the core benefits, Asian Tour members will be able to play and practice at each venue, allowing for the members at each club to enjoy direct engagement with the region’s best golfers.

“Vietnam continues to be at the forefront of golf expansion and development in the region and we are very proud that Laguna Golf Lang Co is a contributor in this evolution,” said Adam Calver, Director of Golf at Laguna  Lang Co Resort. “We appreciate the work the Asian Tour continues to do to grow the game here and Asian Tour Destinations is a perfect fit for us and supports our resorts future plans and ambitions as we are perfectly situated as an integrated property that boasts some of the best beachfront accommodation in Vietnam paired with exceptional golf.”

The new partnership is another indication of the willingness of Laguna Lang Co to deploy a “team ethic” to enhance Asia’s golf appeal. The club already plays a leading role in the Vietnam Golf Coast, a destination marketing effort involving seven top clubs in Central Vietnam that is geared towards cementing the area’s status as one of Asia’s leading places for play.

It almost goes without saying that the global pandemic has been devastating for the golf tourism industry in Asia. With international travel barred, clubs have been forced to rely on domestic clients for the past year. While strong growth has been witnessed, the overall economic power of international tourism is strongly required. Vietnam has continued to remain a safe bubble in Asia, and restrictions are still in place. However, the development and approval of vaccinations against COVID-19 indicate a degree of light at the end of the tunnel.

With governments around Asia (including Vietnam) currently in the procurement stage and planning mass vaccination programs for their populations, there’s growing confidence that international visitors will be able to return to Asian fairways sooner rather than later.

With that in mind, Laguna Lang Co believes that strength in numbers will help the region swiftly regain its status as a bucket-list destination for golf travelers.

“Asia’s reputation as a golf destination was as bright as it has ever been before the pandemic,” added Calver. “Together we can showcase all these great courses as well as the compelling tourism activities available along Vietnam’s Golf Coast.”

As the course matures, more than 1,700 trees will grow to line fairways and further define the routing. Wide landing areas greet golfers off the tee, while undulating greens will challenge even the best putters.

During the spring preview, while clubhouse and on-course amenities are being completed, green fees will be $89 per person, with public tee time reservations accepted 30 days in advance. Tee times can be made online at www.sterlinggroveclub.com or by phone at 623-213-7000. A food truck will be available at the clubhouse site for food and non-alcoholic beverage purchases. The Club expects to have its liquor license in place by the end of March. Until then, alcoholic beverages will not be sold on property.

Sterling Grove Golf & Country Club will ultimately become an exclusive private club reserved for members and their guests. For a limited time as the Sterling Grove community builds out, the club will be open to daily-fee and unaccompanied non-member play.

“We are excited to finally unveil the new Sterling Grove Golf & Country Club to the public,” said Ryan Stemsrud, general manager, Sterling Grove Golf & Country Club. “This is not your traditional Arizona golf experience; it has a very distinct look and feel.”

The social center of the Sterling Grove community will be the club area. Inside the clubhouse, the Flora Spa, state-of-the-art fitness studio and movement studio, a full-service restaurant called Copper & Rye, and The Market (for grab-and-go food plus general convenience items) will open this summer/early fall. SIK, Cobra Partner to Launch First 3D-Printed Putter

(Pinellas Park, Florida)
— SIK Golf, creator of patented Descending Loft Technology, and Cobra Golf, a leader in golf club innovation, today announce a long-term partnership which will see the brands working together on technology that was used in the first 3D Printed commercial putter, launched by Cobra in 2020. The two companies plan to continue working together on future products currently slated for launch in Summer 2021.

This partnership, the genesis of which was SIK Golf partner and long-time Cobra Golf ambassador Bryson DeChambeau, has the common goal of bringing superior putting performance to the masses through SIK’s patented Descending Loft Technology (DLT). COBRA utilized the same technology found in all of SIK Golf’s fully-milled putters in the 3D Printed Supersport-35 putter, reengineered into an aluminum face insert, both saving weight and providing a slightly softer feel than a traditional, all-steel SIK putter. SIK’s signature face design utilizes four descending lofts (4°, 3°, 2°, 1°) to ensure the most consistent launch angle, truer role, and improved distance control for golfers that deloft or add loft to the putter at impact.

“At COBRA Golf we strive to deliver high-performance products that help golfers of all levels play their best and enjoy the game. To do that, it’s important to partner with companies who share that vision and our goal to deliver high-performance, innovative products to golfers,” said Jose Miraflor, Vice President of Marketing, Cobra Golf. “Our partnership with SIK Golf and utilizing their Descending Loft Technology will allow us to create future products that can benefit a wide range of golfers. Bryson has seen a lot of success over the years with his SIK putter and we’re excited to work with the SIK team to continue bringing exciting, Tour-proven products to the market.”

In regard to the exciting partnership, Stephen Harrison, CEO and Founder of SIK Golf, adds, “We’ve been dedicated to developing superior products and educating players about putting and the importance of proper launch conditions for over a decade and the partnership with Cobra is a true validation of our team’s hard work. We look forward to continuing our work with COBRA’s R&D department and Bryson to collaborate on exciting new products that will improve players’ success on the greens.”

Sold-Out Field Of 300 Golfers Prepare To Tee-Off In Myrtle Beach Preseason Classic

Seventh Annual Event Delivers Value, Good Times for Players

(MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.) — The seventh annual Myrtle Beach Preseason Classic - sporting a sold-out field of 300 golfers - will be played February 1-3 on nine of the Grand Strand’s most popular courses.

This year’s field, which grew by 50 percent, is the largest in tournament history and will feature golfers from 22 states.

A 54-hole, two-man team event, the Preseason Classic will showcase a different format of play each day and players will be flighted based on their USGA handicap. Teams will play best ball in the opening round, followed by modified alternate shot and a Texas scramble.

The Preseason Classic, which cost just $199 per person, has carved out a reputation as golf’s most valued-filled event.  Much of the value is derived from a course lineup that features some of the area’s most acclaimed layouts.

The Love Course at Barefoot Resort, True Blue and Rivers Edge have all been ranked among the nation’s top 100 public courses and will lead a lineup that also includes Aberdeen, Arrowhead, River Club, Sandpiper Bay, Tradition Club and Wild Wing Avocet.

“Golf has offered a refuge from the Covid-19 pandemic, and I think that is reflected in the interest in this year’s Myrtle Beach Preseason Classic,” said Scott Tomasello, the tournament director for Golf Tourism Solutions, the event’s owner and operator. “We were able to safely and successfully host the World Amateur Handicap Championship and the Fall Classic over the final four months of 2020, and we look forward to welcoming players for the best Myrtle Beach Preseason Classic to date.”

In addition to three rounds of golf, players will also receive a tournament gift, daily prizes, random drawings, two drink tickets each day, and a final round awards luncheon.

Golfweek Ranks Nine Myrtle Beach Courses Among Nation’s Top 200 Resort Courses

Love Course at Barefoot Resort

Myrtle Beach Has More Courses Ranked Than Any Destination in America

(MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.) — The unveiling of “Golfweek’s Best of 2021: Top 200 Resort Golf Courses in the U.S.” provided further affirmation of the depth and quality of Myrtle Beach’s offerings.

Golfweek ranked nine Myrtle Beach area layouts among its top resort courses, more than any other destination in America. The Grand Strand’s honorees were led by three consensus top 100 layouts - the Dunes Golf & Beach Club (No. 43), Caledonia Golf & Fish Club (No. 47) and True Blue Golf Club (No. 73).

Joining that acclaimed trio on the Golfweek list were King’s North at Myrtle Beach National (No. 142), Moorland Course at Legends Resort (No. 144), Grande Dunes Resort Course (No. 174) and the Dye (No. 153), Love (No. 166) and Fazio (No. 193) layouts at Barefoot Resort.

“Myrtle Beach is home to more outstanding courses than any destination in America and that’s at the heart of what golfers find so appealing about the area,” said Bill Golden, CEO of Golf Tourism Solutions, the company responsible for promoting Myrtle Beach as a golf destination. “While rankings are subjective by nature, it’s gratifying to see nine Myrtle Beach layouts ranked among the nation’s premier resort courses.”

Golfweek also ranked four area courses - Tidewater (No. 157), DeBordieu (No. 178), The Reserve (No. 182) and Long Bay (No. 190) - among its “Top 200 Residential Courses in the U.S.”

As expected, the Dunes Club, which has hosted PGA Tour, Champions Tour and USGA events, was the highest ranked Myrtle Beach golf course. The Robert Trent Jones Sr. classic, highlighted by holes 11-13, known as “Alligator Alley,” was a driving force behind the area’s rise to prominence.

Caledonia and True Blue, sister courses designed by Mike Strantz, offer different but equally enjoyable experiences. Caledonia, Strantz’s first solo course, is equal parts art and architecture, playing through a stunning piece of lowcountry property that delivers one of the nation’s premier golf experiences. Conversely, True Blue is a product of Strantz’s unmatched creativity, challenging players with a design that features sweeping fairways framed by sprawling waste bunkers.

King’s North, an Arnold Palmer design, is one of Myrtle Beach’s bedrock facilities, highlighted by “The Gambler,” the par 5 sixth hole that is famously home to an alternate, island fairway.

The Moorland Course at Legends is one of the area’s sternest challenges and most creative layouts. The Resort Course at Grande Dunes is home to five holes that play along the Intracoastal Waterway, including the unforgettable par 3 14th. Playing from an elevated tee box to a green that overlooks the waterway, No. 14 is one of Myrtle Beach’s most exhilarating tee shots.

The Fazio, Love and Dye courses at Barefoot have long been among the Grand Strand’s most popular. The Love Course, which features three holes built around the faux ruins of an old plantation home, is renowned for its playability.

Tom Fazio’s namesake design features water on 15 of 18 holes and makes judicious use of bunkering to help create unforgettable visuals. The Dye Course spotlights the best of Hall of Fame architect Pete Dye, challenging players with visual deception and native waste areas.

Bridgestone Golf Builds on Heritage of Groundbreaking Science with New Dimple Technology in e12 Contact

Leader in Golf Ball Technology Expands Innovation in Contact Science

(COVINGTON, Ga.) — Bridgestone Golf, the #1 Ball-Fitter in Golf, announced today the release of the revolutionary new e12 CONTACT golf ball. Following the great success of the award-winning TOUR B series featuring REACTIV cover technology, the latest e12 is designed with next-generation contact science and aimed at players looking for a combination of game-changing distance and forgiveness with exceptionally soft feel and enhanced short game performance.

The true breakthrough in the e12 CONTACT design is the innovative new CONTACT Force dimple, which features a unique structure with a raised area in the center and an outer portion that slows sidespin during flight. The raised area of the new dimple allows for 38% more contact with the clubface at impact than traditional dimples, yielding a much more efficient transfer of energy and improved core activation. The result is faster ball speed and more distance with every club in the bag.

“Bridgestone has long been a pioneer in bringing to market unique dimple shapes, sizes and constructions in the golf industry, but up until this point that has primarily been a means of achieving optimal aerodynamic performance,” said Elliot Mellow, Golf Ball Marketing Manager for Bridgestone Golf.  “In the new e12 CONTACT, dimples actually serve as a source of increased power and distance as well. They also contribute to minimizing hooks and slices, making the newest e12 a golf ball that provides performance you can actually see in terms of straight distance.”

The new CONTACT Force dimple design not only creates more efficient energy transfer and less in-flight drag for longer straighter shots, it also promotes longer contact time with the clubface on pitches and chips for increased spin and control on shots in the scoring zone. Many players will also see benefits on the green with more consistent putting results due to improved putter face contact. In addition, a new, softer core contributes to significantly enhanced feel on all shots.

“REACTIV was our first significant foray into increasing performance through contact science,” said Dan Murphy, President and CEO of Bridgestone Golf. “Now our engineers have determined that with the cutting-edge CONTACT Force dimple design we can transfer more energy to the core for greater distance while also optimizing aerodynamics to cut down slice and hook spin. It really is an amazing development.”

The 3-piece Bridgestone e12 CONTACT will be at retail on February 26, 2021 and feature a street price of $29.99 per dozen.  In addition to the classic white version, the e12 CONTACT will be available in Matte Green, Matte Red and Matte Yellow color options. For help selecting which premium

Bridgestone model is the right ball for them, consumers should try Bridgestone’s VFIT for a free video ball-fitting consultation.

Mizuno Extends M.CRAFT Putter Line with Three New Models

Three new forged and precision-milled M.CRAFT putters are available starting in February

(NORCROSS, GA) — Mizuno, the global specialty sporting goods company renowned for its industry-leading forged irons and technically advanced golf clubs, announced three new models in the premium M.CRAFT line of putters, available starting February 4, 2021.

Previously available in three classic shapes, Mizuno’s M.CRAFT putters are forged from premium 1025 mild carbon steel then CNC milled to create the most precise shape and alignment. As a result of the hugely popular initial models, Mizuno designed and developed three new shapes to extend the M.CRAFT line -- M.CRAFT IV, M.CRAFT V and M.CRAFT VI.

M.CRAFT IV is a slant neck deep square back putter with moderate toe-hang to suit players with a moderate putting arc. M.CRAFT V is a slant neck toe-heel deep mallet with maximum toe-hang to suit a strongly arcing stroke. M.CRAFT VI is a face-balanced wing mallet offering slightly more weight and stability for players with a straight back and through stroke. Each putter head promotes a fluid, rhythmical putting stroke and – thanks to the deep face milling – offers a softer feel and purer roll.

The M.CRAFT putters weigh in at 355 grams with the exception of the M.CRAFT VI that weighs slightly more at 371 grams. However, players can adjust each M.CRAFT putter to a variety of putting conditions with the additional weight kit that includes two 3 gram weights and two 13 gram weights, which can be interchanged with the 8 gram fitted weights.

The M.CRAFT head styles are available in three stunning finishes:  Classic White Satin, bold Blue ION and intense Black ION. M.CRAFT putters feature a KBS Tour shaft, Lamkin Deep Etched Full Blue cord grip and come with a premium patch M.CRAFT cover in Mizuno’s classic staff colors and emblazoned with the leather M.CRAFT mark.

The original M.CRAFT putters will also be available in 2021. M.CRAFT I is a square back with mid slant neck and max toe-hang, suited to an exaggerated putting arc. M.CRAFT II, is a classic heel-toe putter with plumber’s neck and mid toe-hang, matching a moderate putting arc and finally the M.CRAFT III is a face-balanced mid-mallet delivering stability for golfers with less putting arc.

Mizuno has long held an enviable industry and tour-wide reputation for crafting the very finest golf clubs and the M.CRAFT putter line follows very much in that tradition.

Mizuno has strived to create the best products for consumers for 115 years, and the M.CRAFT putter line adheres firmly to that spirit and desire while offering the best performance benefits that modern technology can bring. #ReachBeyond

Mizuno Announces ST Series Metal Woods

(NORCROSS, GA)
— Mizuno, the global specialty sporting goods company, announced the next generation of ST Series metal woods will be available starting February 2021, representing the culmination of the company’s 3-year, rapid-fire driver development project.

The new ST-Z and ST-X further deploy Mizuno's high strength, Forged Beta SAT2041 Ti face and complex carbon construction to deliver potent ball speeds and a dense, satisfying sensation at impact. The Forged Beta SAT2041 TI maintains its characteristics and resists micro fractures for longer than the commonly used 6-4, Alpha Beta Ti.

"We asked for feedback from our tour players on the ST200, to which most was on the sensory side with a desire for a sound generally described as solid or dense,” said Chris Voshall from Mizuno. “We then spent the next year working on feedback hand in hand with releasing the additional ball speed we knew was left in our SAT2041 Beta Ti face."

The ST Series offers a choice between two different head designs in the driver with characteristics to suit different playing requirements and deliver different ball flights.

ST-Z Driver

Designed to be ultra-stable and to offer low-spin efficiency, the ST-Z driver has a balanced toe/heel carbon composite construction with deep central back weight – for a spin efficient, straight-line ball flight. Featuring the 2nd generation of Mizuno's Forged SAT2041 Beta Ti face for potent ball speeds and consistent performance over time, the ST-Z driver has a wide, low footprint, with a neutral visual lie angle and comes with 4 degrees of quick switch adjustability to fine-tune look and trajectory.

"The ST-Z's predecessor – the ST200 – had a reputation for being a straight-line bomber favored by our longer hitting tour players, and the ST-Z profile is no different,” said Chris Voshall. “But with an extra year's extra experience engineering the Forged Beta SAT2041 Ti, we were able to release a little extra ball speed and a much more satisfying experience off the clubface."

ST-X Driver

The ST-X driver features an expanded toe-located carbon composite window and a heel-located sole weight that combine to produce a reliable draw bias. Equipped with 4 degrees of quick-switch adjustability, the ST-X driver offers a more compact profile, a slightly deeper back portion and a more upright visual lie angle.

As with the ST-Z, the ST-X builds upon the 2nd generation of Mizuno's Forged SAT2041 Beta Ti and offers more dense feedback through impact and a more muted, powerful tone.

"In testing, a lot of our tour players preferred the ST-X over the ST-Z for its deeper shape and slightly smaller profile,” said Chris Voshall. “I recommend starting with an open mind and dropping the ST-X alongside the ST-Z in the address position. For a draw bias driver, it's not going to be what most players expect."

Those with mid-lower swing speeds will benefit from the J-Spec, Japan Specification, incorporating an incredibly lightweight 39g MFusion graphite shaft on the ST-X.

ST-Z Fairway Woods

Offering a throwback profile with curves for the purist and performance for the pragmatist, the ST-Z fairway woods provide high levels of stability and low spin efficiency and feature Mizuno's 3rd generation MAS1C face – the most powerful to date. The ultra-lightweight carbon crown lowers the COG for better spin vs MOI performance, while re-engineered WAVE Technology, delivers a compact wave design that lowers the mass. Both the 3 and 5 woods have an adjustable, quick-switch hosel offering 4 degrees of loft and face angle adjustability.

"Knowing the fairway wood is the least changed club in any bag, we spent time looking at older models that our tour players preferred,” said Chris Voshall. “Rather than a massive overhaul, we implemented subtle tweaks to the ST-Z such as a leading edge and transition into the hosel. There's a lot to like at address.”

Mizuno has strived to create the best products for consumers for 115 years, and the new ST Series adheres firmly to that spirit and desire while offering the best performance benefits that modern technology can bring.

The ST Series woods will be available at retail starting February 2021. Test the ST-Z and ST-X at a Mizuno Swing DNA Fitter. For further information or to find out more about Mizuno’s full range of golf equipment, apparel and accessories visit: Mizunogolf.com.

Ben Hogan Golf Equipment Company Introduces Limited Edition Player’s Combo Sets with Diamond Black Metal Finish

Player’s Black Combo Set is Most-Requested product in recent history; joins popular Player’s Combo Sets combining ICON Blades and Award-Winning PTx PRO Irons with various long-iron alternatives.

(Fort Worth, Texas) — On the heels of introducing a number of long iron alternatives, including the UiHi utility irons and VKTR+ hybrids which led to The Player’s Combo Set - one of the best-selling products in their recent history - the Ben Hogan Golf Equipment Company today unveiled a Limited Edition Player’s Black Combo Set.

The Company will introduce a limited run of the Player’s Black Combo set comprised of the PTx PRO Black irons (#4 iron through #7 iron) combined with ICON Black irons (#8 iron – Pitching Wedge).  As an extra bonus, buyers will have the opportunity to purchase an 18-degree VKTR+ hybrid ... traditionally a club that would replace a #3 iron ... for a special price.

Unlike most ‘combo sets’ on the market which make design sacrifices from the start -- where the long irons do not have enough game-enhancement technology while the shorter, scoring irons have too much -- the Ben Hogan Player’s Combo Sets uses the best elements of two distinctly different iron models.  The Player’s Black Combo Set combines ICON blade short irons and the Award-Winning PTx PRO mid- and longer irons.

“Quite candidly, we were blown away by demand for the Player’s Combo Set.  We knew it was a great concept, but never expected it to become a cornerstone of our product line.  Throughout the latter half of 2021, we just couldn’t keep up with demand,” said Scott White, President and CEO of Ben Hogan Golf Equipment Company.  “On top of that, we’ve had ongoing requests for the set to made available in black finishes.  The Player’s Black Combo Set is the response to those golfer demands.”

Adds White, “Black golf clubs have been popular for a number of years now and we don’t see that trend changing anytime soon.  Our proprietary Diamond Black Metal finish has proven to be preferred by many discerning golfers.  We offer it as an alternative on many of our irons and wedges because it is more durable than nickel chrome and doesn’t flake or crack like black paint which most other manufacturers use.”

The new Player’s Black Combo set will begin with the PTx PRO Black #4 at 22 degrees.  In keeping with the Ben Hogan manifest, the set(s) will maintain consistent 4-degree loft gapping throughout the set; #5 iron – 26 degrees, #6 iron – 30 degrees, #7 iron – 34 degrees, #8 iron – 38 degrees, #9 iron – 42 degrees, and the Pitching Wedge – 46 degrees.  Pricing for the Player’s Black Combo set will be as follows:

4/5/6/7 (PTx PRO irons) with 8/9/PW (ICON irons): $840.00

Additionally, an 18-degree VKTR+ hybrid will be offered to buyers of this Limited Edition set at the special price of $100.00.

The original Player’s Combo sets will be remain available in traditional nickel chrome in three standard offerings:

4/5/6/7 (PTx PRO irons) with 8/9/PW (ICON irons): $810.00

22-degree UiHi with 5/6/7 (PTx PRO) with 8/9/PW (ICON): $810.00

22-degree VKTR+ with 5/6/7 (PTx PRO) with 8/9/PW (ICON): $840.00

The new Player’s Black Combo set and original Player’s Combo Set, UiHi Utility Irons and VKTR+ Hybrids are available exclusively at www.BenHoganGolf.com.

PerfectMotion Introduces “PPI” Motion Efficiency Metric

Upgraded App Now Includes PerfectMotion Performance Index to Track Improvement

(BOSTON, MASS.) — PerfectMotion has upgraded the user experience in its industry-leading A.I.-powered, motion training mobile app by introducing the PPI, PerfectMotion Performance Index. PPI is a numerical measure of motion efficiency from 0 to 100. As golfers work with the app toward the goal of repeatable, efficient body motion with every club, their PPI scores help them measure their success, track improvements, focus their efforts and challenge themselves.

PPI is a moving average, similar to a handicap, computed as an overall measure over a golfer’s last 300 swings and putts, and individually, for BALL and NO BALL training sessions for each club. As a golfer improves their motion efficiency, their PPI increases. Golfers now have a simple, objective measure of performance for their drives, irons, wedges, chips and putts used to help them achieve the ultimate goal of the PerfectMotion app: lower handicaps, effortless distance and automatic accuracy.

“The app and its AI allow golfers to train with purpose, eliminating their key faults one at a time,” says Rich Kosowsky, PerfectMotion founder and CEO. “The PPI simply measures that progress. It goes up as a golfer eliminates the most severe fault, scores more perfect motions in a session, and graduates to higher skill levels. We all know how passionate golfers are about performance and data. And unlike a handicap, which requires playing rounds to improve, golfers can improve their PPI anywhere and anytime, with or without a ball. All they need is their phone.”

Instructors use PPI to help assess which areas of the game to focus on with a student and then use their expertise and insight to speed PPI gains. “Given the PPI scores for every training session, along with the trends by club, a coach can quickly assess a student's key issues and create a personalized plan for improvement,” says Kosowsky.

Three-time Ryder Cup participant and four-time winner on the PGA TOUR Chip Beck, a PerfectMotion instructor, is enthusiastic about PPI and the data it provides. “PPI pinpoints my students’ strengths and weaknesses, allowing me to a more efficient and effective teacher,” Beck says. “And it’s a great motivational tool – I’m currently competing with several of my students through the app to see who can improve putting PPI fastest. It’s a lot of fun.”

The PerfectMotion app allows golfers to train efficiently, with or without a ball, while receiving expert guidance on every swing and putt. To start improving, golfers simply place their phone on the ground angled up toward them and make swings with a driver, iron, wedge, or work on chips and putts. The app uses proprietary artificial intelligence to track the golfer’s body motion and instantly determine their key swing fault. The app then provides a custom video fix to help eliminate it. For app subscribers that want to accelerate their PPI gains, they can choose from a list of top instructors worldwide to work with remotely in a uniquely personalized and effective way.

The PerfectMotion app can be downloaded for the Apple iPhone in the iOS app store and for Android devices in the Google Play Store. The app comes with a 14-day free trial. After the trial, the Pro version costs $5.99 a month or a $59.99 annually.

Vokey WedgeWorks Introduces M Grind Collection

Bob Vokey’s “Most Favorite” Grind Now Available in 50°, 52° and 54° Lofts

(FAIRHAVEN, Mass.) – Master Craftsman Bob Vokey’s “most favorite” grind – the M Grind – is now available in 50°, 52° and 54° lofts through the new Vokey WedgeWorks M Grind Collection.

Previously only available on Vokey Design SM8 sand and lob wedges (56º-62º), the M Grind is designed for players that like to rotate the club face open and closed to manufacture shots around the green:

•  The M grind is a medium-bounce wedge featuring a full crescent heel, toe and trailing edge sole grind and is for players looking for a versatile gap wedge playing in firm, sandy conditions.

• The grind is ideal for players with a shallower, more sweeping swing type who play shots with a variety of club face positions.

• It is a great option for players playing a two-wedge setup (52º/58º).

• The M Grind is currently played on tour by Cameron Smith, Patrick Cantlay and Charles Howell III.

“The grind in the back allows you to open up the wedge and get under the ball a little easier, while the front of the wedge allows you to get out and produce that lower, stronger ball flight,” said Aaron Dill, Vokey Tour Representative.

This collection is available for custom order in golf shops and through Vokey.com in 50°, 52° and 54° lofts (right hand only) in the tour-preferred Raw finish.

The M Grind is one of Vokey’s six tour-proven sole grinds available in the current SM8 line, each resulting from years working with the best players in the world to develop wedges that best fit their swing type and course conditions. The collaborative process continues today on worldwide tours and remains the foundation of the Vokey wedge design process.

SM8 TECHNOLOGY

WedgeWorks M Grind wedges are designed with the same advanced technologies that have made Vokey Design SM8 wedges the #1 wedge on tour:

• Reimagined Progressive CG is pushed forward from the face for increased MOI – producing improved distance and trajectory control, better feel and a club face that simply wants to square up at impact for more consistent results. To achieve this in the M Grind and all SM8 lob wedges, Vokey’s team lengthened the hosels and counterbalanced that weight with high-density tungsten low in the toe.

• 100% Inspected Spin Milled Grooves are cut with a level of precision that is unique by finish, producing maximum spin and shot control. Micro-grooves are individually cut in between grooves, which maximize spin on partial shots. A proprietary heat treatment is applied to the impact area to double the durability of the groove without impacting feel – making it the most durable groove in golf.

ADVANCED PERSONALIZATION AND CUSTOM OPTIONS

Consistent with SM8, the M Grind features a modern, clean look, which also provides a big canvas for customization. Inspired by Aaron Dill (@VokeyWedgeRep), the WedgeWorks custom options are expanded to include:

Six unique toe engravings;

Expanded stamping options: 10-character Straight/Freestyle; 15 characters around toe; 5-character staircase style; and

Custom paint-filled Loft and Grind markings and BV Wings logo.

Hand Grinds: Raw finishes can be hand ground to exact specs, including both performance grinds and profile adjustments – a true tour van experience.

SM8 wedges can also be custom ordered with an industry-leading selection of shafts, grips, shaft bands and ferrules. For a complete list of options, visit Vokey.com.

LOFTS, FINISHES & AVAILABILITY

The M Grind Collection will be available for custom order in golf shops and on Vokey.com in 50º, 52º and 54º lofts in a Raw finish. RH only. Price ($199) includes custom stamping, custom ferrule and custom shaft band.

BOYNE Golf Properties Recognized Among Top U.S. Golf and Ski Resorts

(Petoskey, MI)
– The largest family-owned golf and ski company in North America, Boyne Resorts, has had four of its golf resort properties nationwide listed among the 25 best U.S golf and ski resorts by the writers’ of Golf Pass, the leading consumer digital golf membership platform powered by NBC Sports Group.

“Golfers and skiers are always at odds. Skiers can't wait for snow to fall. Golfers can't wait for snow to melt. Despite their differences, golf and skiing form a formidable twosome at resorts around the country. These two leisure pursuits anchor the summer and winter seasons, keeping these unique resorts open year-round,” said Golf Pass in the article published in December.

Leading the way on the list for Boyne Resorts are BOYNE Golf in Michigan, including Boyne Mountain Resort and Boyne Highlands Resort (1), along with Sugarloaf (2) and Sunday River (20) in Maine, and Big Sky Resort (8) in Montana. They join other high-profile golf and ski destinations like Keystone, Omni Mount Washington, Park City, Stratton Mountain, and Sun Valley.

“Over the past six decades, Boyne Resorts has evolved into one of the top four-season golf and ski resort companies across North America and to be recognize together with many of our peers is an honor,” said Bernie Friedrich, Senior Vice President Golf Operations and Resort Sales. “It is also a tribute to the vision of our founder, Everett Kircher, who wanted to create a company that could employ people year-round and used golf as the catalyst to make that happen.”

A Detroit native and former Studebaker car salesman, Boyne founder Everett Kircher and two friends purchased property near Boyne City, Michigan in 1947 for a whopping $1 and developed Boyne’s first ski hill, and it’s been uphill ever since.

After nearly a decade of winter success, Kircher wanted to create a four-season destination and be able to keep his employees working year-round – enter golf. In 1955 the resort’s first golf course was built, a 9-hole executive course.

As golf began to become more popular in the 1960’s, Kircher was able to convince legendary course designer Robert Trent Jones Sr. to create a classic parkland course on the new Boyne Highlands resort into a top summer destination. In 1966, The Heather course at Boyne Highlands opened with Boyne’s Scottish themes in place (Northern Michigan was thought to resemble the Scottish Highlands) while at the same time utilizing the property’s unique elevation and water features. Thanks to instant appeal of The Heather, a spark was lit that launched the golf boom in Northern Michigan.

Over the next five decades, the Kircher family continued to expand the golf offerings every decade ushering in The Alpine and The Moor in the 70’s, along with Big Sky. In the 80’s, The Monument at Boyne Mountain and Donald Ross Memorial at Boyne Highlands, and in the 90’s, the Arthur Hills at Boyne Highlands and BOYNE Golf’s flagship property, Bay Harbor Golf Club were added. In addition, Sugarloaf Golf Club has been managed by Boyne Resorts since 2007 and Sunday River has been part of the Boyne Resorts family since 2007, purchasing the Sunday River Golf Club in 2019.

JumboMax Golf Grips set to participate in 2021 PGA Show Virtual Experience & Marketplace January 26-29

(JUPITER, FL)
— JumboMax Golf Grips will be participating in the upcoming 2021 PGA Show Virtual Experience & Marketplace set for January 26-29th.

In 2021, due to restrictions caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, the 68th edition of the PGA Merchandise Show will drive business, education and networking through a cutting-edge, highly interactive virtual experience and marketplace. The virtual platform will allow PGA Professionals, golf retailers, industry leaders, manufacturers and media to participate from the safety of their homes, facilities or offices.

The 2021 offerings from JumboMax Golf Grips include the JMX UltraLite Grip, used by 2020 U.S. Open Champion Bryson DeChambeau.

The UltraLite is 20-25% lighter than standard grips, promoting light, even grip pressure and creating faster clubhead speed. The super-oversized profile improves clubface awareness and control, and the twist-resistant StabilityCore offers maximum performance in the rough.

Also in the line is the JMX JumboFlat 17 Putter Grip with the widest profile of any Arm Lock grip on the market. Its patent-pending tapered shape allows it to rest flat against the forearm; the rounded section is formed to fit the golfer’s fingers; and the Poly-Tour outer provides optimal tackiness and texture.

In addition, there’s the STR8 Tech non-tapered, which promotes light, even grip pressure, creating faster clubhead speed. Its ultra-stable, super-oversized profile provides maximum clubface awareness and control, while the ergonomic shape allows for more practice and less pain. This product is available in Wrap Series and Tour Series models.

Finally, the ST/1.3 Jumbo Putter Grip with a non-tapered profile that promotes a tension-free putting stroke. Its jumbo sizing offers maximum stability during the stroke, while the twist-resistant StabilityCore offers playability in a variety of weather conditions.

JumboMax Grips simply fit your hands better for increased distance, better accuracy and more solid ball striking. Their patented design and larger diameter provide a superior “Finger-Palm grip” that is revolutionizing the game of golf.

Independent tests by GolfTest USA and Golf Etc. showed that in nearly every category tested, from club head speed, launch angle, side spin, back spin to carry distance, JumboMax Grips outperformed standard golf grips. Once you try them, you’ll never want to go back to a “skinny” grip again.

Dominant Golf, LLC is the parent company and manufacturer of JumboMax Golf Grips. The company was created with the goal of developing a better way for people to learn, play and love the game of golf. The JumboMax Grip was designed with computer and laboratory technologies and has been studied extensively on golf ranges and courses with golfers of varying skill levels including low, intermediate and high handicap players.

Titleist Introduces New Pro V1 and Pro V1x Golf Balls – Longer Distance, More Greenside Spin, Softer Feel

Core-to-Cover Innovations Establish New Standard of Golf Ball Performance

(FAIRHAVEN, Mass.) — Increasing performance through every single layer of the golf ball, the new Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x models are designed for longer distance, even more greenside spin and control and softer feel – with the unmatched ball-to-ball consistency and quality that golfers expect from Titleist.

Available beginning Jan. 27 in golf shops worldwide, 2021 Pro V1 and Pro V1x are the result of new core, casing layer, cover and aerodynamic technologies – including proprietary 388 (Pro V1) and 348 (Pro V1x) dimple designs optimized for extraordinary distance and consistent flight – that combine to make the most trusted and best performing golf balls in the game even better.

2021 PRO V1 & PRO V1x PERFORMANCE

From the best players in the world to amateurs of all skill levels, new Pro V1 and Pro V1x are designed for golfers who prioritize performance  above all else. Both new 2021 models deliver longer distance, increased Drop-and-Stop™ greenside control, softer feel and long-lasting durability – while maintaining their differences in flight, feel and spin:

• New Pro V1 offers the greatest combination of speed, spin and feel in the game, providing the best fit for the majority of golfers. Pro V1 flies lower than Pro V1x with a penetrating trajectory and has a very soft feel.

• New Pro V1x has a fast, high flight and delivers spin when and where a golfer wants it. Pro V1x is designed for players who want a higher trajectory and increased spin relative to Pro V1, with a slightly firmer feel.

“When a golfer chooses Pro V1 or Pro V1x, they are choosing absolute performance,” said Jeremy Stone, Vice President, Titleist Golf Ball Marketing. “Our R&D and Operations teams have spent years engineering new technology into each and every component of 2021 Pro V1 and Pro V1x. When it comes to the performance and quality of these products, we will continue to go to every length possible to help golfers play their best and shoot their lowest scores.”

2021 PRO V1 AND PRO V1x TECHNOLOGY

Advancements in Titleist’s industry-leading multi-component technology are precisely designed to work together, providing total performance and extreme consistency on every shot:

• Reformulated 2.0 ZG Process Cores deliver increased distance in the solid core Pro V1 and dual core Pro V1x.

• Faster High-Flex Casing Layer adds speed and lowers long game spin. This highly-resilient, high-speed ionomer was initially developed for and validated by Pro V1x Left Dash.

• New, Softer Cast Urethane Elastomer Cover – the softest cover formulation ever used on a Pro V1 or Pro V1x – increases greenside spin for more control in the short game.

• New Spherically-tiled Tetrahedral Dimple Designs – featuring a 388 dimple layout for Pro V1, and 348 for Pro V1x – are optimized to each model to maximize distance and flight consistency. Pro V1 maintains its penetrating trajectory while Pro V1x will fly higher than the prior generation.

AERODYNAMIC BREAKTHROUGHS

The new dimple designs on 2021 Pro V1 and Pro V1x – the first entirely new patterns since 2011 – are the result of Titleist’s unparalleled commitment to understanding and improving the flight of the golf ball.

Since the original Pro V1 debuted 20 years ago, Titleist R&D has designed, manufactured and tested more than 1,900 aerodynamic patterns. That includes more than 60 different iterations of 2021 Pro V1’s 388 dimple layout, and more than 30 versions of Pro V1x’s 348 dimple design.

“When we find a pattern we like, the next step is making sure we find the best possible version of that pattern by building and testing different variations of dimple depths, diameters, shapes and surface coverages,” said Mike Madson, Titleist R&D’s Director of Aerodynamics & Research Engineering “It takes years of work – we’ve been working on these new packages for almost a decade – but it is that commitment to research that ensures each golf ball is optimized to fly at its longest and most efficient trajectory.”

PRECISION MANUFACTURING

The continued investment in advanced technology and quality control at Titleist Ball Plants 3 and 4 – where every Pro V1 and Pro V1x are manufactured by Titleist associates to the industry’s highest performance and quality specifications – ensures that every new generation of Pro V1 and Pro V1x are the best performing and most consistent models ever. Consistency from ball to ball, and dozen to dozen is critical to allowing golfers to consistently execute the same types of shots, round after round.

PLAYER VALIDATION

Since their October 2020 introduction on the PGA Tour, many of the world’s best players have teed up new Pro V1 and Pro V1x in competition including Adam Scott (Pro V1x), Justin Thomas (Pro V1x), Tony Finau (Pro V1), Ryan Palmer (Pro V1x), Scottie Scheffler (Pro V1) – and Cameron Smith, who became the first player in the history of The Masters to finish with all four rounds in the 60s while playing new Pro V1x.

“When I first tested it, it was a bit hotter off the driver, which was great,” Smith said. “The ball flight and windows were great. But the biggest thing that stuck out was the control coming out of the rough and around the greens. I can control my shots – especially those difficult, soft shots – so much better.”

AVAILABILITY: The new 2021 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls will be available in golf shops beginning Jan. 27, 2021. Available in White (play numbers 1-4, 5-8 and all the same play number 00 or 1-99) and  High optic yellow (play numbers 1-4). $49.99 MAP.
