(JACKSON, N.J.) - Metedeconck National Golf Club has been named among Golfweek's "Top 100 Modern" golf courses in the bi-annual rating in the March 13 issue of this prestigious golf publication.
Golfweek's Top 100 Modern (1960 to present) and Top 100 Classic (pre-1960) golf courses in the U.S. are selected by a group of 675 panelists who evaluate private, resort and daily-fee golf courses on the basis of 10 architectural criteria. Among features reviewed are quality of the routing, variety and memorability of the hole designs, playability and conditioning.
Metedeconk, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2012, is nestled in the upper region of the New Jersey Pinelands and was created as a golfing oasis, a departure from the hustle and bustle of New York City and Philadelphia. World-renowned golf course architects Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and Roger Rulewich designed the private, 27-hole facility. The NJ Golf Course Owners Association recently recognized Metedeconk as the 2012 Club of the Year.
