'Golden' Golf Package Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Colonial Williamsburg’s Gold Course

(WILLIAMSBURG, Va.) – One of America’s great golf courses – the Gold Course at Colonial Williamsburg’s Golden Horseshoe Golf Club – turns 50 this year. To commemorate the occasion and give golfers the chance to experience this vibrant example of traditional golf course architecture, Colonial Williamsburg is offering a special anniversary package.

The “Golden Golf Package” includes:
* Two nights’ stay at the Williamsburg Lodge
* One round of golf per golfer per night’s stay
* Complimentary replay rounds (to be booked upon completion of first round)
* Complimentary Callaway golf club rental
* Complimentary Golden Horseshoe yardage book
* Complimentary personalized Golden Horseshoe golf bag tag
* Commemorative 50th anniversary logo golf pouch and golf balls

The package begins at $189 per person per night at the Williamsburg Lodge and is valid March 22 through Dec. 31, 2013. The Gold Course, which originally opened in 1963, was designed by the dean of American golf course architecture, Robert Trent Jones Sr. Upon its completion, Jones called the Gold Course his “finest design.” It’s a prominent example of traditional golf course architecture, featuring pinched, often sloped landing areas as well as long approaches onto small greens.

It’s also one of the most beautiful courses in the United States, routed through mature woodlands and lovingly maintained. When the course debuted, Jones described it as “a natural arboretum.”  The course was awarded certified Audubon Sanctuary status in 2001.

In 1998, architect Rees Jones, one of Jones’ sons, renovated the Gold, making it more playable for higher handicap golfers. Today, the course stretches to 6,817 yards with a par of 71 and USGA slope rating of 144.

The Gold Course continues to earn accolades for its updated yet still demanding design: It is included on Golf Magazine’s “Top 100 You Can Play” list of public-access courses, and is one of the Top Six Robert Trent Jones Sr. courses named by Golf Digest, joining the likes of Ireland’s Ballybunion, Spain’s Valderrama, and California’s Spyglass Hill.  The Gold Course appears on Golf Digest’s list (February 2013) of America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses.

Golden Golf Package play is available on all three Golden Horseshoe courses – the Robert Trent Jones-designed Gold Course, the Rees Jones-designed Green Course and the Spotswood nine-hole executive course.

Swingbyte’s Video Integration Fuels 350 Percent Increase in Orders for 2.0 Version of 3-D Wireless Swing Analyzer

(CHICAGO, Ill.) – Swingbyte announced that pre-orders for version 2.0 of the 3-D wireless swing analyzer taken at last week’s PGA Merchandise Show increased 350 percent over orders at the 2012 show.

Swingbyte 2 integrates video capability, including ball target recognition, into the swing analyzer’s mobile app. Golfers and instructors now have access to 3-D club data (including club path and face angles) and an accurate visual representation of body mechanics via a single app on mobile devices.

The ability to evaluate golf swings relative to the ball target and the direction of the club face at address while incorporating the benefits of video was a “big hit” with the PGA professionals and instructors, according to Brad Redding, director of instruction at The Members Club at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and a member of Swingbyte’s volunteer advisory board.

“I think Swingbyte is now pretty much the one-stop shop for golf instruction,” said Redding, a Golf Magazine Top 100 teacher. “It’s the complete package.”

Introduced in 2012, Swingbyte uses a lightweight sensor, advanced mathematical algorithms and Bluetooth connectivity to digitize a golfer’s swing and communicate in real time key swing measurements including club head speed, swing path and impact angles.

Video integration is being added to Swingbyte’s capabilities through a free app update, version 2.0, which will be available this spring. The Swingbyte app featuring Intelligent Target Recognition technology initially will be available for Apple devices with iOS 6 (and above) mobile operating systems. Android compatibility will follow later this year.

Students and instructors can capture video by using an iPad or iPhone. The app enables simultaneous, side-by-side and synchronized review of video with Swingbyte metrics and precisely trims and edits nonessential footage.

Swingbyte also announced the April launch of the Swingbyte 2 sensor. Swingbyte 2 features a completely redesigned form factor that aligns the Swingbyte sensor’s center of gravity with the club shaft’s center, permitting greater ease of alignment and resistance to the post-impact twisting that can affect sensors without aligned centers of gravity. Other benefits of Swingbyte 2’s redesign include a lower profile, an electronic power switch and covert LED lights. Both Swingbyte and Swingbyte 2 will be compatible with 2.0 software.

The original Swingbyte can be ordered through the company’s website, Swingbyte.com, and purchased at more than 1,800 AT&T retail stores. Swingbyte’s price of $149 includes the Swingbyte unit, the free Swingbyte app and an online account that includes additional analytics, community rankings and personal trends.

Popular Demand: Spring Golf at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort on Hilton Head Island

There are plenty of reasons why every year, Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort on Hilton Head Island remains one of America’s most enjoyable spring golf destinations

(HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC) — Need a good reason to pack up your favorite foursome and visit Hilton Head Island’s Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort this spring? Well, other than the fact that Golf Digest just named Hilton Head Island among America’s Top 10 Best Buddies Golf Trips destinations, here are four other reasons for you to consider:

1. Great Location: The largest barrier island off the Atlantic coast between Long Island and the Bahamas, Hilton Head Island luxuriously rests along the Intracoastal Waterway conveniently located 40 miles north of Savannah, Ga., and 90 miles south of Charleston, S.C. One of America’s finest resort Meccas from the second half of the 20th century until today, this enchanting haven is made all the more appealing are its unspoiled sea marshes, creeks and lagoons, and 12 miles of broad Atlantic beach.

2. Great weather: Hilton Head Island encompasses 42 square miles of semi-tropical, Lowcountry geography warmed by the Gulf Stream and framed by palm trees, live oaks and rolling dunes. Springtime blooms early and falls leaves late in Hilton Head’s perennial climate. There are days in the middle of December that edge up to the high 70s and low 80s. Even the months between November and February — when the average high temperature on Hilton Head is 62.5 degrees — are among the most popular times of the year for locals and savvy out-of-towners.

3. Great courses: Golfers from around the world have recognized the superior facilities at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort, showcased by its sterling trio of world-class golf courses designed by legends of the industry: The renowned Robert Trent Jones Oceanfront Course; the Arthur Hills Course, where collegiate stars like Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson honed their talents; and the George Fazio Course, designed by George Fazio with construction work headed by his nephew, famed architect Tom Fazio. Each of these outstanding layouts has been named South Carolina Golf Course of the Year and is rated four stars or better by Fodor’s Golf Digest Places to Play.

Always striving to remain ahead of the golf industry curve, Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort has created a golf app for a golfer’s smartphone that will answer questions in real time such as: “What’s the best way to play this hole? How will I ever get around that sand trap?” Or perhaps, “I’m getting hungry. Wonder where can I get lunch or a cold drink after I get this hole-in-one?” Golfers can keep track of yardage with the app’s built-in GPS and enter their score into a mobile scorecard that also allows them to engage in live competition with others in their group. Golfers also use the app to check information about each hole on each course (par, handicap and playing tips), and when you make that hole-in-one, the app makes it easy to brag about it on Facebook.

4. Great Deals: The best Hilton Head Island has to offer is all at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort. Golf, beach, restaurants, accommodations, bars, amenities and incredible golf deals: Stay there, play there ... or stay AND play there ... you get more for your money at Palmetto Dunes. Tour-Proven TVD-K Grind Joins Vokey WedgeWorks Exclusives Lineup

New Model Inspired By Bob Vokey’s Work With Adam Scott, Jason Dufner

(FAIRHAVEN, Mass.) – Personalization meets performance with Master Craftsman Bob Vokey’s newest addition to the WedgeWorks Exclusives lineup, the Titleist Vokey Design TVD-K.

The Vokey TVD-K, available this March through WedgeWorks on Vokey.com, is the result of Vokey’s recent work with PGA Tour players such as Adam Scott, Jason Dufner and Ben Crane to develop a sole that is playable in a variety of conditions.

TVD (“Tour Van Design”) models are built with the same unparalleled craftsmanship and technology that have made Titleist Vokey Design wedges the #1 wedge on the PGA Tour since 2004 and the most played wedge at every level of competitive golf.

Vokey TVD-K wedges are available in three loft/bounce combinations (56.12º, 58.10º and 60.10º) and two new finishes (California Chrome and Graphite Ion), to go along with all of the personalization options available through WedgeWorks.

The TVD-K 56º features a wider, more cambered sole than any of the sand wedges available in the Vokey Design SM4 lineup. The wider sole makes the TVD-K 56º a very playable club from the bunker. The 58º and 60º TVD-K models feature a full sole with higher bounce, suitable for neutral to digger swing types in a variety of conditions. All WedgeWorks TVD models (TVD-M and TVD-K) feature the maximum-performing Vokey SM4 grooves, featuring 100-percent inspected, tight tolerance, aggressive groove edges at the limits allowed by the Rules of Golf.

“The TVD-K is the evolution of the TK grind that we had on tour and as a limited release in WedgeWorks,” Vokey said. “It has a wider sole, with more camber. It has enough bounce to be very forgiving out of the bunkers but still allows shotmaking around the greens. It’s been popular with a lot of guys I’ve worked with on Tour including Adam, Jason and Ben.”

Every wedge in the Exclusives line is fully customizable and built by Vokey and his team in Carlsbad, Calif. WedgeWorks gives golfers the opportunity to craft wedges that fit both their game and personality – from length, lie and loft, to toe engraving, personalized stamping, paintfill, grips, shafts, ferrules and shaftbands.

“WedgeWorks has been a dream come true for me,” said Vokey. “For the first time we have Tour, R&D and Custom in one place. We take our influence from the Tour and try to constantly improve by offering more custom features and options to the wedge enthusiast.”

LOFT/BOUNCE COMBINATIONS: Vokey TVD-K wedges are available in three loft/bounce combinations: 56.12º, 58.10º  and 60.10º. Available in both RH and LH.

NEW FINISHES: TVD-K models feature two exclusive finishes, the plated California Chrome or the unplated Graphite Ion (pictured).

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY: Vokey WedgeWorks Exclusives TVD-K wedges will be available in March through WedgeWorks on Vokey.com or by custom order, with a suggested retail price of $160 plus personalization packages. See Vokey.com/wedgeworks for complete options and pricing information.

SwingSmart Golf Swing Analyzer Wins ING Industry Honors Award in ‘Product Ingenuity – Emerging Companies’ Category

Market Leader Recognized for Ability to Improve Performance of All Players

(NORTH BARRINGTON, IL) – NewSpin Golf – maker of the award-winning SwingSmart golf swing analyzer – won the Product Ingenuity award in the Emerging Companies category during the International Network of Golf (ING) Industry Honors program at last week’s PGA Merchandise Show.

Recognized as one of the best ways for any player to improve on-course performance, SwingSmart features a small (less than 1 oz.) Bluetooth-enabled sensor. This unique device ($249.99) clips to a golf-club shaft and wirelessly communicates with a free app for iPads, iPhones or iPods, presenting detailed, easy-to-interpret analytics on:
* Key Stats – Tempo, swing speed, face angle, angle of attack; info on each and optimization tips provided within the app by world-renowned instructor Peter Kostis
* Path and Plane – “3-D Swing-View” shows 360-degrees of a player’s swing motion, highlighting the exact route of the club head from any angle
* Putting Results – More than just a full-swing tool, the system provides info on a player’s putting stroke to help them reduce scores on the green
* Personal Best – Data from a golfer’s best swings can be saved and used as points of reference

“There were a number of great products in this highly competitive category and winning further validates SwingSmart as the clear leader in digital swing analysis,” says Angelo Papadourakis, CEO of NewSpin Golf. “For the first time, users have instant access to information directly applicable to their own unique swings and are able to use this data to achieve lower scores and have more fun.”

The ING Industry Honors program recognizes outstanding achievement in the golf business. Nominees in a dozen categories are submitted throughout the year from golf industry participants. Sub-committees then trim the entries to the top three and ING members vote electronically to determine the winners.

Developed by a team of expert software designers, the SwingSmart app is extremely user friendly, fun and effective. The tracked stats and “3-D Swing View” provide a real-time snapshot of how the club is being manipulated through impact, so players can adjust where necessary and learn what’s successful for their individual games. An effective practice tool for the off-season, SwingSmart features a special training mode that provides the key stats necessary to help players learn the proper swing motion, without the pressure of hitting a ball.

Designed and assembled in the USA, SwingSmart’s portable sensor module comes with a personal carrying case and rechargeable battery that lasts more than four hours. Widely recognized by PGA Professionals as a way to augment lessons, the app is available for free download via the iTunes store and will soon be offered on the Android Marketplace.

GOLF Magazine recently named SwingSmart the “Best App for Instant Feedback,” praising among other things the involvement of Kostis – one of “America's 50 Greatest Teachers” according to Golf Digest – for his contributions toward making SwingSmart an invaluable learning device.

Power, Feel, Control – Exotics XCG6 Hybrid Delivers It All

(Batavia, IL) ‐ The Exotics XCG6 by Tour Edge is designed to offer great feel, power, and excellent control in a classic “pear‐shaped” design.

The XCG6 boasts a maraging steel cup face and a tungsten steel sole and body. Maraging steel is used in the face over stainless steel because it possesses superior strength without losing malleability. As a result, the club face can be made thinner and harder to launch the ball with less spin and at faster ball speeds.

Tour Edge engineers designed the club with a heavier, tungsten steel sole that offers extreme heel and toe weighting. This perimeter weighting provides a high moment‐of‐inertia for reduced club head twisting and greater forgiveness.

Making every shot easier to hit, the XCG6 has a shallow face height and a cambered sole that takes on difficult lies with ease. What’s more, the hexahedron sole weighting moves mass back into the
heel and toe areas for added forgiveness even on off‐center hits.

The XCG6 hybrid features Tour Edge’s lifetime warranty and 30‐day play guarantee. It is available in the Matrix Ozik and the Graphite Design Tour AD graphite shafts for $199. For more information, call (800) 515‐3343 or visit www.touredge.com.

PING signs world-champion swimmer Michael Phelps to play its custom-fit clubs

(PHOENIX) – World-champion swimmer Michael Phelps, one of the most accomplished athletes in the history of sport with more than 70 medals in international competition, has reached agreement with PING to play a full set of the company’s custom-fit clubs as he focuses his athletic efforts on the game of golf. His official debut representing PING starts today at the Annexus Pro-Am at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, where he’ll be paired with Masters Champion Bubba Watson.

Phelps is the subject of this year’s “The Haney Project” on Golf Channel, an eight-episode reality show documenting his efforts to improve his golf game under the guidance of renowned instructor Hank Haney. The series premieres February 25. The native of Baltimore will play 14 PING clubs, including the new G25™ driver, fairway woods, hybrids and irons. For his short game, he’ll rely on the new Tour Gorge® Groove wedges and Scottsdale® TR™ (True Roll) putter.

“I know how difficult the game of golf is, but I’m really serious about getting better and the experts at PING have already helped me a lot,” said Phelps, who first started playing golf five years ago. “They looked at my swing on the range and dialed me into clubs that perfectly fit my stance and swing. Considering how tall I am and the length of my arms, they showed me how important and beneficial it is that I play with custom-fit clubs. Once I had clubs that were built specifically for me, my ball flight improved right away. PING has a long history of helping golfers play better, so I’m excited to see how much I can continue to improve my game with the help of their equipment.”

As the custom-fitting pioneer and leader, PING welcomed the opportunity to help Phelps in his quest to improve his golf game. His 6’ 4” height, long arms and large hand size make him a perfect subject for custom fitting. PING’s club technicians built his G25 irons one inch over standard length, three degrees upright and with grips 1/32-inch over standard size. PING Wrx, the company’s custom shop, added a few special touches to the clubs, including painting the clubs with gold and red, white and blue accents.

“Michael is a legendary sports icon, and we all watched with great pride as he represented the United States while dominating his sport in international competition over the last decade,” said John A. Solheim, PING Chairman & CEO. “We’ve custom-built his clubs to ensure he has every chance to improve and we believe he’ll dedicate himself to golf with the same intensity he gave to swimming. His global presence as a golfer will bring PING tremendous exposure and just as importantly, shed additional light on the game in general.”

Phelps, 27, is widely recognized as the greatest swimmer of all time and one of the most accomplished athletes in the history of sport. Over the course of his 16-year career, Phelps amassed more gold medals, world championships, and world records than any other swimmer.  He established the Michael Phelps Foundation in 2008 to help promote the sport of swimming and encourage active and healthy lifestyles, especially for children. Phelps hosts the Michael Phelps Foundation Golf Classic that serves as an annual fundraiser for the Foundation.

Nike Golf Brings RZN Tour Performance Technology to an Amateur Golf Ball

(BEAVERTON, Ore.) – Nike Golf utilizes innovative RZN technology to create revolutionary distance for amateurs with the ONE RZN golf ball.

ONE RZN is the latest edition to the RZN family, incorporating groundbreaking technology into a golf ball suitable for a wider range of players. ONE RZN features the same larger, softer RZN core found in the new Nike 20XI tour ball, but with a slightly different formulation. This formulation is dialed and designed for increased distance when it counts.

RZN replaces conventional rubber cores with a radical new game-changing material. RZN is a highly neutralized polymer that’s faster and lighter, engineered to produce longer distance and more controlled shots.

With tour proven results, Nike Golf ball engineers sought to enhance the already innovative RZN technology. Refining the formula to increase core size and performance, engineers worked to create an even faster engine for the new generation of golf balls. This larger, softer RZN core improves feel off all shots while maintaining driver distance.

“With ONE RZN, we are able to bring revolutionary advances in golf balls to a wider range of athletes,” said Rock Ishii, Nike Golf’s Product Development Director for golf balls.  “There’s not a product out there in this category of golf ball that has technology of this magnitude.”

ONE RZN will be available in two versions, ONE RZN and ONE RZN X.  With ONE RZN, players can expect to experience longer and straighter shots with softer feel on impact.  ONE RZN X will deliver longer, more penetrating shots by generating maximum velocity on impact.

Both versions of the ONE RZN will be available globally, Feb. 1 with a street price of $29.99.

Exotics XCG6 Titanium/Tungsten Fairway Delivers Driver‐Like Distance

(Batavia, IL) ‐ Since the introduction of Tour Edge Golf’s Exotics product line in 2004, the company has guaranteed its fairway woods will hit the ball further. In fact, Tour Edge is saying the new 2013 XCG6 model is the absolute longest fairway wood in golf and easily outdistances the competition.

Golfer’s use titanium in their drivers for a reason – it hits the ball further. That’s why the Exotics XCG6 features a 15‐3‐3‐3 beta titanium cup face, a high‐density steel body and a tungsten sole plate that are combo‐brazed for the ultimate in power and forgiveness.

According to Jay Hubbard, vice president of marketing for Tour Edge, “The XCG6 is monster long, compliments of the titanium cup face that provides to‐the‐limit COR even on off‐center hits. It also has a steel body that is almost as light as titanium, allowing even more mass to be placed in the heel and toe areas of the sole.”

The club’s heavy tungsten sole plate moves 65% of the total club head weight in the heel and toe areas for a higher moment‐of‐inertia, reduced club head twisting, and greater forgiveness.

The XCG6 has a hot face. The club’s Boomerang face technology offers multiple levels of variable face thickness that maximize the rebound from more points on the face. The club has a slightly deeper face and larger club head than previous models but retains a classic pear shape, mid spin design.

The Exotics XCG6 fairway wood features Tour Edge’s lifetime warranty and 30‐day play guarantee. It is available in the Matrix Ozik and the Graphite Design Tour AD graphite shafts for $299. For more information, call (800) 515‐3343 or visit www.touredge.com.

Twist to Fit and Dial in the Distance - Tour Edge’s New XCG6 Adjustable Driver

(Batavia, IL) ‐ Design to give golfers the ability to change their shot shape, Tour Edge’s new Exotics XCG6 driver features the company’s first ever adjustable hosel.

The XCG6’s Shot Control Technology (SCT) allows for the adjustment of four face‐angle/loft settings to optimize launch characteristics for maximum distance and control. With a simple twist of the SCT wrench, golfers can adjust the face angle, loft, and lie of the XCG6 driver. For example, to promote a draw or a hook, select the “C” (closed position) on the SCT hosel or the “U” (upright position) for slightly less draw. To hit a fade or slice, select the “O” or open position and for a mostly straight ball flight, select the “N” or neutral position. With the Exotics XCG6 driver, you simply twist the shaft to dial in the distance.

Loaded with technology, the Exotics XCG6 driver boasts an advanced multilevel face design that maximizes ball speed by incorporating multiple levels of variable face thickness. By thinning and thickening the forged titanium face, the XCG6 enhances feel and rebound across all striking points on the face. What’s more, the driver enhances forgiveness by maximizing heel/toe weighting compliments of four hexahedron weight pads that deliver a higher moment of inertia for greater stability and forgiveness.

The XCG6 driver features Tour Edge’s lifetime warranty and 30‐day play guarantee. It is available in the Matrix Ozik HD and Graphite Design Tour AD shafts for $349.

STX Golf Redevelops Popular Sync 8 Putter

(BALTIMORE, MD) - STX Golf, known for producing classically inspired putters with a modern style, has renovated the Sync 8 Putter (SS8) from the PGA Tour winning Sync Series.

The Sync Series has garnered 12 PGA Titles including one major - the PGA Championship. Contemporary lines blended with high performance inserts is a determining factor to their success on tour and at retail. The company acknowledges the importance of the Sync Series within their line-up and decided to redevelop the SS8.

The SS8 Blade Putter is a modern adaptation to the classically designed blade. Its once angular top-line has been refined to soften the overall contemporary shape of the head.

The center of gravity remains precisely positioned at the impact zone due to the innovative, progressive muscle back and extended heel design.

The half offset, flare neck hosel has been appointed to keep the golfer's hands slightly forward during the putting stroke. Five grams have been removed from the overall toe weighted modern head and now weighs in at 355 grams. The black PVD finish adds to this modern putter. The SS8 features a 71-degree lie angle and 3-degrees of loft. Both 34-inch and 35-inch lengths are available.

According to STX Golf Marketing Manager Jason Dengler, "The redesign of the SS8 is simple but significant. Not only does the putter look more refined but the weighing changes make it easier to maneuver and control."

Each putter model in the Sync Series Collection features the STX patented Soft Insert Technology called "F.E.E.L." - Friction Enhancing Elastomer Layer. This exclusive technology dramatically increases the coefficient of friction to put a greater amount of forward roll on the ball and keep your putts on line. The Soft Face Insert keeps the ball in contact with the putter longer to also provide superior directional control, decreased ball skid and reduced ball deformation.

The black insert is the softest in the STX line. It delivers the highest friction and resilience rate with increased dwell time. Those characteristics are chemically formulated to get the ball rolling sooner and keep your putts on line. For a medium resiliency rate, the red insert offers an intermediate amount of dwell time for a firmer feel and true control.

The newly redesigned SS8 is available immediately. Suggested retail is $109.99. For more information on the SS8 Putter or the entire line of Sync Series Putters, visit the company website at www.stxgolf.com or the STX Facebook.

French Lick Courses Listed Among Golf Digest America's 100 Greatest Public

(French Lick, IN) - The Pete Dye Course and Donald Ross Course at French Lick Resort in southern Indiana have once again earned rankings among Golf Digest's elite list of America's 100 Greatest Public Courses. The two premier courses were also ranked as the two top public in the state of Indiana.

The publication's biennial review of America's top public courses appears in the February 2013 issue. Golf Digest used over 1,100 members of its Course Ranking Panel and asked each to submit ballots based on seven criteria including shot values, resistance to scoring, design variety, memorability, aesthetics, conditioning, and ambience.

"We are thrilled to once again have both the Pete Dye and Donald Ross courses ranked among America's 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses by Golf Digest," said Dave Harner, French Lick Resort's director of golf. "To continue having our courses recognized by arguably the leading golf publication and course raters in the country, and to have the best public courses in Indiana solidifies our destination as one of the top golf experiences in the country.

The Pete Dye course, ranked No. 17 on the list, joins four other top courses from the Midwest ranked among the top 20 including Whistling Straits (Straits), Blackwolf Run, and Erin Hills in Wisconsin, and Arcadia Bluffs in Michigan.

The Pete Dye Course, which was also selected among America's 100 Greatest Courses (No. 93) by Golf Digest in 2013, is regarded as one of the most breathtaking and exciting 18 holes of golf in the country. The course was carefully carved on a dramatic hilltop offering a variety of elevation changes, rugged and dramatic terrain, narrow fairways and challenging bunkers. There are spectacular views from every hole, some that stretch for over 40 miles overlooking the Hoosier National Forest.

The historic Donald Ross course, ranked No. 100 on the list, hosted the 1924 PGA Championship and recently completed a multi-million dollar restoration. The Ross course is a parkland gem meandering up and down the rolling hills a few miles from the French Lick Springs Hotel. The wonderful routing of the holes take full advantage of the many elevation points for the classic Ross greens which slope dramatically from back to front. It is one of only two public Ross courses in the state of Indiana.

French Lick Resort joins Kohler as the only resorts in the Midwest with multiple courses ranked among America's 100 Greatest Public Courses. It is also the only resort in the world that combines the classic history of Donald Ross and the modern day design of the legendary Pete Dye.

The Pete Dye Course is already on the national radar, having hosting the 2010 PGA of America's Professionals National Championship, the Big Ten Men's and Women's Championships in 2012, 2013, 2014, Indiana Open in 2012, and will be hosting the LPGA Legends Championships in 2013.

More Than 81k Consumers Help Bridgestone Create New e Series Golf Balls

(COVINGTON, GA) — After conducting 200,000 live consumer ball-fittings, Bridgestone Golf has cemented its place as the #1 ball-fitter in golf.  Of those 200,000 fittings, a total of 81,161 consumers have been fit into an e Series model (e5, e6, or e7). For 2013, Bridgestone Golf has tapped into that data to make the industry’s most successful distance performance series of balls even better.  For short video explanations from golf equipment expert David Feherty on how the new e-Series balls are better, click http://www.bridgestonegolf.com/launch/the-new-e-series. For a slightly more technical explanation keep reading.

“Golfers may not care about the technicalities of dimple design, but they do care about getting the right trajectory and more distance for their game.” said Corey Consuegra, Bridgestone’s Golf Ball Marketing Manager. “Thanks to the best R&D Team in the business and our unique ball fitting database, the new balls perform better than any e Series product we’ve ever released, and offer solutions to consumers with varying trajectory needs. This is not a one size fits all game, and if you are like me, you want every opportunity to play this game better.”

All three e Series models have experienced an aerodynamic upgrade, utilizing Bridgestone’s new 326-seamless dual dimple pattern.  The new pattern features 6% larger dimples and 2.5% more surface area coverage to help reduce drag and increase lift for unparalleled distance performance. Below is more on each of the new e-Series balls:

e5
The e5 is an advanced 2-piece urethane construction designed for golfers wanting higher ball flight, more distance and greater control. A large gradational core contributes to longer carry distances, while its tour caliber urethane cover delivers tremendous feel into and around the greens.

e6
The e6 is the softest multilayer golf ball on the market and in 2013 it is softer than its predecessor. Designed to help players eliminate slices and hooks, it reduces spin for straighter distance. A 3% softer surlyn cover and low compression core improve feel, while an anti-side spin inner layer helps keep the ball in the short grass.  Currently the top-selling e Series model worldwide, the new e6 ball is available in white, yellow and orange.

e7
The ultimate distance ball is the new, multilayer e7 model - designed purely for faster, longer shots. The larger Dual Dimple and reactive surlyn cover combine to reduce drag and increase lift, while a speed-enhancing core and spin-reducing inner layer deliver explosive velocity and greater distance.

The new 2013 e5, e6 and e7 balls will feature a street price of $26.99 per dozen (MSRP $38 per dozen) and will be available at golf specialty stores and green grass retailers nationwide beginning February 1, 2013.

For more information on the entire Bridgestone Golf ball line and how to determine which ball is right for your game, visit www.bridgestonegolf.com or attend a free Bridgestone Golf ball-fitting in your area. The upcoming Bridgestone Golf ball-fitting schedule can be accessed at www.bridgestonegolf.com/product/ball-fitting/schedule/us.  Those who cannot get out to a ball fitting can chat live with one of Bridgestone’s expert ball-fitting technicians via Bridgestone’s free B-FIT service by visiting www.bridgestonegolf.com/bfit.

Highlighting the new Sport Series from SkyGolf is the SkyCaddie Watch at an introductory price of only $199. Enjoy auto-course recognition, auto-hole advance, auto-distance update and mark ball to measure any distance.

Edmonson adds, “Overall distance performance is determined by the combination of GPS accuracy and map accuracy. If either the GPS is inaccurate or the map is inaccurate, a golfer can get a wrong distance that can cost strokes. We have been able to offer this exciting and much more economical Sport Series by substituting conventional GPS engines used in competitive brands in the place of the highly acclaimed and unmatched accuracy of our proprietary and more costly TruePoint GPS engines used in our Tour Series of rangefinders. But, when compared to any other rangefinder brand in golf, the SkyCaddie Sport Series will deliver overall better performance due to the significantly more reliable TrueGround Maps, available only from SkyCaddie. Bobby Clampett’s On-Line Teacher Certification Program Launched at PGA Show

PGA Tour champion’s revolutionary approach to instruction gaining disciples

(BONITA SPRINGS, Fla.) - “The Impact Zone Training System by Impact Zone Golf,” the innovative approach to golf instruction created by acclaimed PGA Tour winner and popular television golf analyst Bobby Clampett, has launched its new online Teacher Certification Program, offering special pricing for professionals who register at the annual PGA Merchandise Show this week in Orlando.

Clampett, who next week begins his fourth season on the Champions Tour, founded Impact Zone Golf in 2009, largely in response to golf professionals who wanted to teach the system, as well as golfers who inquired about taking lessons, based on what they learned in his book, “The Impact Zone.”

“The reaction to our new system of teaching has been amazing,” Clampett said, “so we want to take the opportunity to meet the desire of so many professionals who want to join our mission to revolutionize the way the game is taught and learned.”

“The Impact Zone Training System” completely changes the way golfers and instructors perceive and interpret each golfer’s swing.  Clampett challenges the widely accepted theory of golf instruction that is too concerned with a golfer’s swing style, while overlooking its results and effectiveness.  “Impact-based” instruction puts the emphasis where it should be, Clampett professes: on consistently good shots and lower scores.

During the PGA Show – where Clampett is making a hugely successful debut – both the Basic Certification Program and the Advanced Level I Program are available at a reduced registration fee at www.impactzonegolf.com.

The Basic Certification Program includes standard certifications for Impact Zone Instructor, Impact Zone Coach, Impact Zone Associate Instructor and Impact Zone Associate coach.  Only those who have completed the Basic Certification Program are qualified to take the Advanced Level I Program.

For complete details about The Impact Zone Teacher Certification Program, visit www.impactzonegolf.com (Instructors & Coaches link).
