(Hobbs, N.M.) — Golfweek Magazine has released its annual Best Courses You Can Play in each state rankings and Rockwind Community Links in Hobbs, New Mexico, retains the #2 position that was earned in 2019. The highly regarded course, which offers multiple tees for players of all ability levels, is a popular destination for golfers in the state as well as west Texas.
“It’s a significant honor to keep our ranking as the #2 course on Golfweek’s prestigious list of the best courses that are open to the public in our state,” said Manny Gomez, Hobbs’ Acting City Manager. “Rockwind’s dedicated staff maintains premium playing conditions for our golfers and they ensure a quality experience at affordable prices. Everyone associated with the ongoing success of Rockwind is to be congratulated for working hard to keep the standard of excellence and recognition that we have achieved.”
The facility is considered a trailblazer in uniting golf with the local community. “Community Links” is a concept introduced by Staples where the focus of the entire project was to link the golf course to the fabric of life in Hobbs. A special feature is a surrounding trail system complete with multiple trail heads, various outdoor seating areas, picnic spaces and scenic viewing points, including access to the site’s five acre lake that overlooks the golf course. The United States Golf Association also singled out Rockwind for breaking the mold and being more than just a golf course in a special video entitled “A Model Muni: Rockwind Community Links.”
