Player Tracking, Real-Time Highlights, Live Streaming Video, Ticket Upgrades Among 2018 Offerings
(LIBERTY CORNER, N.J.) – The USGA has released an update to the official U.S. Open mobile app which will provide both on- and off-site fans the ultimate digital complement to experience golf’s ultimate test, the 118th Championship at iconic Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, from June 11-17.
Building on the success of the official U.S. Open app at the 2017 U.S. Open, the USGA added greater on-site player tracking, which will allow fans to locate their favorite players, both on the course and at the practice area. Users will be able to further personalize their experience with features such as local time-adjusted listings for tee times, TV broadcasts and live streams.
Also new for 2018, on-site spectators will be able to instantly upgrade their tickets in the app.
“Increased player information is at the core of what today’s fan demands during live sporting events,” said Navin Singh, USGA head of Global Content and Media Distribution. “Whether at the golf course or around the world, the new U.S. Open app provides the most detailed and diverse player data to date, allowing fans to tailor the experience as they follow their heroes, which is befitting of golf’s ultimate test.”
The app also features real-time scoring and player highlights, as well as news, photos, videos and social media updates straight from the action at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. General championship and player alerts will be available through the app, along with on-site fan notifications, which will further enhance the experience at this year’s championship.
The app is available through iTunes and Google Play.
Limited daily and multi-day tickets are still available. For more information, or for any questions related to 118th U.S. Open Championship tickets, visit usopen.com, email ticketquestions@usga.org, or call 1.800.698.0661.
