Carr Golf Announces Winners of World Invitational Father & Daughter Tournament

Tenth-Annual Event Held on Ireland’s Celebrated Waterville Golf Links

(DUBLIN, Ireland) – Carr Golf  – Ireland and Scotland’s premier provider of unforgettable golf vacations – announces Larry and Clare Foley were the winning team in the 10th-annual World Invitational Father & Daughter Tournament held July 24 – 26 on acclaimed Waterville Golf Links in County Kerry.

Carr Golf hosted 34 teams hailing from the U.S., Canada, Italy and Ireland at Waterville, widely known as one of the world’s finest seaside courses. The first-class event included three rounds of golf, deluxe accommodations, reception, full Irish breakfasts each morning, shuttle transportation throughout, nightly performances of local traditional Irish music, and a final night dinner and prize ceremony.

Participants also received an impressive array of gifts including Ping “Father & Daughter Tournament” branded golf apparel, Newbridge silverware, Redbreast Whiskey and more.

Playing out of Connecticut’s Country Club of Fairfield, the Foley duo won the 36-hole net event with a total of 97 points in the “Better Ball Stableford” format. “Clare and I had a wonderful time this week,” says Foley. “We’re thrilled to take home the trophy as the field was quite strong, but more importantly we appreciated the opportunity to play on a team together.”

With a final score of 1-under-par, Michael and Stephanie Sullivan of Garden City Golf Club (N.J.) won the gross division by two shots over Steve and Kaitlyn Lee from New York’s Westchester Country Club, winners of last year’s event. “Thank you to Carr Golf for hosting such a phenomenal event,” says Mr. Sullivan. “We had as much fun off the course as on it.”

Charles Deubel and his daughter Kristen from Montclair Golf Club (N.J.) were second in the net division with Jim and Annie Layden from the Bel Air Country Club in Los Angeles finishing third. Mr. Layden – a two-time winner in 2008 and 2016 – aimed to become the first participant to win the event three times and, perhaps more impressively, vying to win with three different playing partners. Twelve daughters in the field had single-digit handicaps.

While all participants had their eyes on the title, prizes weren’t limited to on-course play. Carly and Jared Haines of New York’s Wykagyl Country Club won the award for “Best Dressed,” and Klea Armstrong of Kingsbury National Golf Club (N.Y.) was honored for “Best Social Media Post.” Photos of the event may be accessed here.

“This extraordinary tournament has become one of the most joyous events on our annual calendar,” says Carr Golf’s Marty Carr, tournament host. “The wonderful camaraderie of fathers and daughters playing together as a team on one of the world’s finest courses is the game of golf at its finest.”
