Sand Creek Station Will Host 2012 NJCAA Men’s Golf National Championship

(NEWTON, Kan.) – Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan., ranked as one of the top 50 public golf facilities in 2010 by GolfWorld’s Readers’ Choice Awards, announced today that it will host the 2012 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Men’s Golf National Championship, which takes place May 15 through 18. The nation’s top ranked junior college men’s golf teams will compete in a four day stroke play championship at Sand Creek Station for the 2012 NJCAA title.

Players will be challenged by Sand Creek Station’s 18-hole par 72 golf course, which reaches 7,400 yards from the championship tees and features a test of links golf. This nationally acclaimed Jeffrey Brauer design, owned by the City of Newton and managed by KemperSports, has previously been named as one of the best municipal golf courses in the U.S. by Golfweek. Sand Creek Station has played host to a variety of other top amateur events, including the 2011 Kansas Stroke Play Championship

Live scoring for the NJCAA Championship will be provided on www.golfstat.com and spectators are encouraged to attend free of charge to watch some of the nation’s best collegiate players compete at Sand Creek Station.
