Wilson wins with PING i20s

PING’s new i20 driver and irons help lead Wilson to victory

(PHOENIX) – PING’s new i20 driver and irons are winners in only their third event on the PGA TOUR. PING Pro Mark Wilson relied on the new technology in claiming his fifth tour title on Sunday at the Humana Challenge in La Quinta, Calif.

Wilson switched to the i20 driver and irons in the off-season and he gave the clubs their debut at the season-opening tournament at Kapalua, where he finished T1 in driving accuracy. “Usually it takes me a little time, but this was an easy change,” Wilson said, following his Humana win, where he hit 80% of the greens-in-regulation for the week. “They looked great to my eye and they perform better, so it was a no-brainer.”

Wilson relied on an 8.5-degree i20 driver with True Temper’s Grafalloy Tour X shaft. The i20 driver’s aerodynamic crown is engineered to reduce drag for maximizing clubhead speed, ball velocity and distance. Its matte-black finish eliminates glare. In his i20 irons, he played 4-PW with PING’s CS Lite steel shafts. His color code is Yellow. The multi-metal irons are workable and feature a progressive design. High-launching long irons blend with smaller short irons for optimizing control and shot making.

“We’re very excited for Mark, and to see him win so quickly with the i20 driver and irons is especially satisfying,” said John A. Solheim, PING Chairman & CEO. “Early success with our newest technology is the best form of validation for our design process. We watched Mark play a lot of great shots all week at La Quinta, even in windy conditions. We were gratified to see that the i20s offer a level of performance and innovation that the game’s best players can rely on to compete and win.”
