Jack Nicklaus Joins the Allen Edmonds Team

Nicklaus will collaborate broadly with the American shoe manufacturer

(Port Washington, WI) - Allen Edmonds, the Great American Shoe Company, is partnering with Jack Nicklaus, the great American golf icon, to promote the Allen Edmonds brand both domestically and globally.

Allen Edmonds introduced its "Honors Collection" classic golf shoes in 2011, entering the golf market for the first time in several years. Its partnership with Mr. Nicklaus will go beyond golf to include a "Clubhouse Collection" of dress shoes focused on style and comfort.

"Jack Nicklaus is esteemed worldwide not just for his record-setting career in golf, but also for his superior sportsmanship, his personal values, his intense preparation and his attention to detail-all traits that we greatly admire and seek to emulate at Allen Edmonds," said Paul Grangaard, president and CEO of Allen Edmonds. "It is a great honor for us to be working with him. I know our employees and loyal customers will be proud of this important partnership."

The Golden Bear is globally recognized as the greatest golfer in the game's history, having accumulated 120 professional victories, including a record 18 major championships. His legacy on the course has extended off the course and to his businesses, which include an industry-leading course design company and an iconic brand that has been licensed to products ranging from golf equipment to apparel to wine.

Nicklaus and Allen Edmonds - American Excellence
"Allen Edmonds is an excellent partner for me and my businesses," Nicklaus said. "I have always pursued the highest standards in my game and in the people with whom I do business. Allen Edmonds follows those same principles. The Jack Nicklaus and Allen Edmonds teams share great American traits for the pursuit of excellence, and I am confident that this will be a successful and rewarding partnership for both of us."

It is estimated that Nicklaus has walked close to 11,000 holes of major championship golf, having crossed the 10,000-hole mark at the 1997 US Open at Congressional Country Club. Still, the Golden Bear displayed remarkable longevity and was able to play in a record 154 consecutive majors for which he was eligible.

"In amassing an unparalleled career over parts of six decades, one can only imagine the wear and tear on Jack's body, and we know that foot health has been paramount to him," Grangaard said. "Because of that, he values the 212-step craftsmanship, superior construction and comfort of Allen Edmonds' golf and street shoes. He will be a terrific advocate for our shoes and advisor in the development of future products."

"I am excited to be working with the Allen Edmonds team to design a shoe line that will focus on comfort and performance, "Nicklaus added. "Perhaps if I had shoes built by Allen Edmonds throughout my career I may have avoided the discomfort that eventually led to my need for a hip replacement. As we build our relationship, I am excited to help Allen Edmonds develop more shoes to fit the various needs of golfers at all skill levels and ages."
