(Mississauga, Ontario, Canada) - Sligo Wear, known internationally for its trend-setting style, has signed Scotland’s Russell Knox to a 2012 endorsement contract that will see the PGA Tour rookie decked out in Sligo Wear’s distinctive, cutting-edge apparel.
“I am thrilled to begin my PGA Tour career as a Sligo Wear ambassador,” said Knox, 26, who opened his rookie season on the Tour last weekend in Hawaii. “The line offers style and performance, so I can look my best while competing.”
A native of Inverness, Scotland, who makes his stateside home in Jacksonville Beach, Fla., Knox earned his way onto the PGA Tour this year by finishing among the Top 25 on the Nationwide Tour money list in 2011. Knox wound up No. 12, with $242,821, and proved he had the talent to win by taking the Chiquita Classic at TPC River's Bend near Cincinnati, Ohio.
“Adding Russell to the Sligo Wear staff of tour professionals adds another dimension to our world-wide outreach,” said Shawn Aucoin, Director of Sales and Marketing for the rising global brand. “Russell has demonstrated he has the talent and desire to win on tour.”
Knox, who made the cut in 17 of 20 starts in 2011, joins two other members of the Sligo Wear professional staff on the PGA Tour this year – three-time winner Brian Gay, from Texas, and Canada’s Graham DeLaet. Sligo Wear also will be represented on the Nationwide Tour in 2012 by Justin Hicks, from Michigan, as well as prominent American golf instructor Jeff Ritter, based in Phoenix.
Sligo Wear’s reputation for introducing technologically advanced materials and vibrant colors is reinforced by its eclectic 2012 collection that includes distinctively designed golf shirts, short- and long-sleeved wind shirts and jackets, as well as sweaters in three styles – v-neck, quarter-zip and cardigans – and technical solid and patterned pants and shorts.
