(Palm Desert, Calif.) – Classic Club is pleased to announce that charitable events held at its facilities in 2014 exceeded $5 million, including the annual Warburton Celebrity Golf Tournament that raised $1.12 million alone for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital last year.
Classic Club is unique to any other golf facility in that its primary goal is to enable charities to maximize the money raised for their respective causes through golf tournaments and events held at the club’s Bellatrix Restaurant. Classic Club is owned by the H. N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation, which donates tens of millions of dollars each year to nonprofit organizations in the Coachella Valley and beyond. The Foundation is also responsible for positioning the facility to specifically serve charitable purposes in this way.
“The commitment of Classic Club has always aligned with the overall mission of the Berger Foundation – to help people help themselves,” said Douglass A. Vance, H.N. and France C. Berger Foundation, Vice President of Real Estate. “Golf tournaments are a popular method of fundraising in our area, and by dedicating Classic Club to charitable golf play and special events, we are able to diversify the ways in which we support nonprofit organizations.”
Along with direct money raised at Classic Club and Bellatrix, the facility also accounted for 39 donated golf events generating 673 donated rounds valued at $93,547 and $404,768 in donated savings by charitable events in 2014. Likewise, Bellatrix donated 163 events generating $185,644 in donated food and beverage costs. The overall in-kind donation total for these combined efforts reached $683,959 in 2014.
Classic Club features an Arnold Palmer-designed course appealing to players at all levels of the game – from novice players to those on the PGA Tour. The course has a rolling terrain with several elevated tees featuring a core design with pine, olive and pepperwood trees, offset by flowering bushes, shrubs and pine straw ground cover, all playing off of the surrounding mountains and vistas that are exclusive to the Coachella Valley, to make for an incredibly beautiful golf experience. Classic Club was also the host site for the PGA Tour’s Bob Hope Classic from 2006-2008.
Bellatrix Restaurant, featuring Chef Gerard Brunett, is known for eclectic and Mediterranean influences combined with creative excellence and culinary vision that is consistently experienced throughout the restaurant’s various menus, in-house events and wine dinners. A gracious atmosphere with sun-warm walls, generous dark wood armchairs and white linen tables, Bellatrix' Mediterranean decor flows from wine themed oil paintings to the wood-and-glass walled wine cellar; a blue velvet curtain separates the dining room from a wood paneled bar. A covered terrace and outdoor seating wraps around the restaurant, accessed from several arched glass doorways.
