GolfTalk Live Receives Pennsylvania's Excellence in Broadcasting Award
(PHILADELPHIA, Pa.) - The GolfTalk Live radio show - and its flagship station WNTP Newstalk 990 in Philadelphia - received the prestigious Excellence in Broadcasting Award from the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters, during the association's annual awards luncheon at the Hotel Hershey.
The award to GolfTalk Live came in the "Judges' Merit" category, for a show titled "An Evening with Gary Player" that aired in September of 2014. The trophy, signifying the highest award for broadcasting in Pennsylvania, joins a crowded shelf. GolfTalk Live was voted the No. 1 Golf Radio Show in America three times in the last six years.
"This is the first time GolfTalk Live received an award in competition against other non-golf shows," explained show host Tony Leodora. "To be recognized for excellence along with the rest of the mainstream radio and television broadcasts is quite an accomplishment."
WNTP general manager Russ Whitnah and executive producer Joe Harnett received the award along with Leodora.
In addition, GolfTalk Live's on-site producer Eddie Caiazzo received an Excellence in Broadcasting Award from the PAB for a commercial he wrote and performed for GolfTec, the indoor golf instruction company.
GolfTalk Live airs 52 weeks a year - 7 to 8 a.m. each Saturday on flagship station WNTP 990-AM in Philadelphia. In addition, it airs on a network of affiliate stations. In the Lehigh Valley it airs every Saturday at 10 a.m. on ESPN 1230 and ESPN 1320. The show also airs 3 to 4 p.m. every Saturday on WOND 1400-AM in South Jersey and on The Golf Director Network, nationally and internationally. It also can be heard live on www.wntp.com, as well as any time after the show airs, by going to the website, www.golftalklive.net.
