Top Names in Sports, Entertainment Head to Vegas for Derek Jeter Celebrity Invitational Golf Tournament

Ken Griffey Jr., Don Cheadle, Jorge Posada and more VIPs will attend the event at Las Vegas’ exclusive Shadow Creek, hosted by ARIA Resort & Casino

(NEW YORK) – A who’s who of sports and entertainment celebrities will take over Las Vegas from April 19 - 22 for the 2017 Derek Jeter Celebrity Invitational (DJCI) at Shadow Creek, one of the world’s most exclusive golf courses. For the third consecutive year the award-winning ARIA Resort & Casino will provide hospitality for the tournament’s guests and host the event’s evening parties, including the signature DJCI Gala.

Marcus Allen, Ray Allen, Anthony Anderson, Benjamin Bratt, Brandi Chastain, Don Cheadle, Ronaldinho Gaucho, Ken Griffey Jr., Tino Martinez, Bode Miller, Jorge Posada and Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez are some of the many high-profile stars who will attend the highly anticipated invitation-only golf tournament, benefitting the Turn 2 Foundation.

“The tremendous support that we continue to receive from so many celebrities and athletes is a huge reason why we are returning to Las Vegas for another year of this special event, and have the opportunity to continue this tradition for the next two years,” said Derek Jeter, who founded Turn 2 in 1996. “The Derek Jeter Celebrity Invitational raises invaluable funds to benefit the Turn 2 Foundation, which will allow us to continue building upon this legacy for years to come.”

This year’s DJCI is scheduled to kick off Wednesday, April 19 with a private welcome reception, hosted by Jordan Brand. The two-round Celebrity-Amateur tournament, which pairs one celebrity with four amateur participants, will begin Thursday, April 20 at Shadow Creek, and will conclude Friday, April 21. The signature DJCI Gala and exclusive silent auction, featuring one-of-a-kind memorabilia and experiences, will take place at ARIA on Thursday evening.

World-renowned, GRAMMY Award-winning artist, T.I. will headline the DJCI Gala, a spectacular celebration that brings together the tournament’s celebrities and VIP invited guests.

The previous events have welcomed stars including John Cena, Flo Rida, Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan, Ludacris, Albert Pujols, Cal Ripken Jr. and Russell Wilson.

Since its launch, Turn 2 has worked to help young people reach their full potential by creating and supporting initiatives that promote leadership development, academic achievement, positive behavior, healthy lifestyles and social change among high school students in New York City and West Michigan.
