The City of Atlanta has an incredibly active tennis program, the Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association, and Ansley Golf Club has been one of its strongest participants, with over 250 members playing in the spring and fall leagues. But after this year’s spring season was canceled by the coronavirus outbreak, and Ansley's management decided to also opt-out for the fall because of potential exposures from outside the club, Director of Athletics Matt Grayson set out to fill the void by creating a new intraclub program, made up of equally balanced teams with players from all skill levels. In this episode, Grayson describes the program’s success both in numbers (280 participants, including 200 women) and in helping members make new acquaintances. “The social aspect has really been great,” Grayson says. “Members have liked it so much, there’s been talk about continuing it next year, even if the risk [of league play] is gone.”
