USGA Launches Over-The-Top App in Partnership with Cisco

(LIBERTY CORNER, N.J.) – The USGA, in partnership with Cisco, today announced the launch of its Over-the-Top App designed to deliver USGA championship content when, where and how fans want it.

Available for Apple TV and Roku, the USGA’s OTT App will offer golf fans the ability to watch free, live-streaming bonus coverage of the U.S. Open, U.S. Women’s Open, U.S. Senior Open, U.S. Amateur and U.S. Women’s Amateur championships. In addition, fans can relive iconic U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open moments with highlights, featured films and entire final-round broadcasts from some of the most memorable championships, including all five previous U.S. Opens at Pebble Beach. Viewers will also be able to enjoy the full library of USGA original programming, highlighted by the critically acclaimed “Golf Journal” series. Fans can watch curated, classic footage of legends such as Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods and get a first-hand look at their rise to greatness.

Among the featured films available at launch is the exclusive, extended cut of “2018 U.S. Open: Brooks Goes Back to Back,” which chronicles Brooks Koepka’s successful defense of his U.S. Open title at Shinnecock Hills.

“We are proud to offer a new way to experience the most storied moments from the game’s iconic championships,” says Navin Singh, chief commercial officer of the USGA. “This platform will allow fans to fully immerse themselves in the drama and excitement that is synonymous with USGA championships.”

“Together, the USGA and Cisco have built a foundation of connectivity that will enhance USGA championships and allow the delivery of compelling content to fans everywhere,” said Kevin Dunbar, Senior Director of Brand Strategy and Content, Cisco. “Delivering video on demand is a critical way to engage with sports fans everywhere.”

As the Official Technology Partner of the USGA, Cisco has significantly improved and extended the network connectivity at USGA championships and next month will debut the first-ever “Connected Course” at Pebble Beach for the U.S. Open, featuring course-wide, secure Wi-Fi for all attendees. The network will provide greater access to scoring, content and other digital experiences for people attending, watching, covering and supporting the championships.
