Lake of Isles Named One of the Best Resort Courses by Golfweek

(North Stonington, Conn.) - Lake of Isles' North Course, a Rees Jones design, was recently named by Golfweek as one of America's Best in the Resort Course category. The North Course, which is located adjacent to Foxwoods Resort Casino is ranked 91 on the Top 100 list.

"It is an honor to once again be named to Golfweek's Best of list," said Archie Cart, Lake of Isles General Manager. "The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation's commitment to quality and excellence has paved the way for Lake of Isles to be one of the premier golf facilities in the country. To be recognized by the national golf media means a lot to the tribe, Foxwoods as well as the entire Troon Golf team at Lake of Isles."

Golfweek's 400 course evaluators for "America's Best" listing submit ballots grading courses all over the country on a 10-point scale to determine the country's finest golf courses. Raters take into account factors such as routing of the course, feature shaping, greens, variety and memorable holes, conditioning, maintenance, and landscape management. The complete list of Best Resorts can be found in the 2014 edition of Golfweek's Ultimate Guide to Golf Course Living and Great Escapes or online at golfweek.com.

Lake of Isles has received many accolades since opening in 2005. It is ranked No. 1 by Golfweek as Best Places You Can Play In Connecticut, ranked in the Top 100 Courses You Can Play in America by Golf Magazine, and it is consistently ranked in the Top 10 Courses in Connecticut by Golf Digest.

Lake of Isles' North Course has several new things coming in 2014. The course will open in the spring with newly renovated greenside bunkers, GPS on all carts, dynamic pricing all the time and improved pace of play.

The North Course is a par-72 layout that stretches more than 7,300 yards from the championship tees. The course features rolling fairways, island tees and greens and extraordinary views, which blend nicely with the incredible natural landscape. The North Course is open to guests of Foxwoods Resort Casino and daily-fee golfers.
