(New York, NY) – VPAR (www.vpar.com) – the global leader in live golf scoring and partner of The Friendship Cup – is giving one pair of amateurs the chance to represent Team Golfweek at the event.
VPAR will award one lucky team an all-expenses paid trip to Kiawah Island Golf Resort for the chance to win one of the world’s premier amateur golf events. After registering, all entrants will qualify for a free download of the VPAR app – normally priced at $8.99 for a year’s subscription. Full contest details and registration are available at http://vpar.golfweek.com/.
Regarded as “Golf’s Fifth Major”, The 9th Annual Friendship Cup is a male pair’s tournament held March 5 – 8 at the Ocean Course – site of the 2012 PGA Championship – and the Jack Nicklaus designed Turtle Point Golf Course.
This year will mark VPAR’s fourth straight as provider of its turnkey tournament scoring managed services, giving amateurs the same competitive experience as the professionals. VPAR’s simple handheld scorepads let groups input their scores and view a real-time leaderboard as they play through the course. Scores are also displayed live online and on screens in the clubhouse.
“Our goal has always been to bring the thrill of a professional tournament to the amateur golfer, by letting them know where they stand,” said VPAR Managing Director Jason Stoop. “We want to give one more deserving pair of amateurs that high-stakes adrenaline rush with the chance to compete at one of the world’s iconic courses.”
Since scoring the event last year, VPAR’s mobile app – which utilizes the same technology – captured “Best Sports App” at the 2014 Sports Technology Awards. VPAR’s live scoring service is also used at more than 900 events each year across 20 countries.
