Premier Florida Panhandle Resort Set for Major Facelift
(NORTHBROOK, Ill.) – KemperSports has been selected to manage golf and clubhouse operations at Bay Point Resort in Panama City, Fla. A premier resort destination for more than twenty years, Bay Point Resort is currently undergoing an extensive renovation project that includes a full renovation of the 200-room hotel, spa and expansive conference. During the renovation, the Resort’s two championship golf courses remain fully operational with optimal course conditions.
Situated amidst a 1,100-acre wildlife sanctuary with views of the salt water marsh and Gulf of Mexico, Bay Point Resort includes a pair of 18-hole golf courses. The Meadows Course, originally designed by Willard Byrd in 1973 remains a local favorite as the course routes through a towering pine forest with narrow fairways and undulated greens.
The Meadows Course remained the only course on the Resort until 2005 when Jack Nicklaus teamed up with Bruce Devlin and Robert von Hagge to create the Nicklaus Course, a dramatic design that delivers unmatched views of natural salt water marshes, the Grand Lagoon and St. Andrews Bay. The Nicklaus Course, the first and only Jack Nicklaus Signature Design in Northwest Florida, offers a stern test of golf skills with abundant water, marsh and sand coming into play on most holes.
In addition to the golf courses, the Resort includes a tennis club, multiple dining venues, full-service spa, two outdoor pools and outdoor hot tub. The resort and spa will be professionally managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts.
“While the Resort is currently undergoing an extensive renovation, we felt that this was the opportune time to partner with a top management company for the long-term health of our two treasured golf courses,” said owner representative Chris Beavor.
KemperSports, which also manages premier golf resorts such as Bandon Dunes Golf Resort and Streamsong, will look to enhance the golf experience through superb customer service and course conditions.
“Bay Point Resort is one of the premier properties in the Southeast,” said KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner. “We look forward to working with the ownership through the renovation process and re-establishing Bay Point as a must play.”
Once the hotel and conference center renovation is complete, a full renovation of the 130 golf villa units will commence.
