The classic architecture of apparel
(Chicago, IL) - The Alister MacKenzie Collection, named in honor of one of the world’s most famous golf course architects who brought us such courses as Augusta National, Cypress Point, Pasatiempo and Royal Adelaide, was unveiled at the recent PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando. The introductory Fall 2015 line, which was designed for the gentleman golfer with discerning tastes, embraces two color groups: “Tweed Valley” and “Highland Sky.” The pieces in both groups reflect the natural hues of the Scottish countryside and are paired in a new colorful, but subtle, ensemble.
The Alister MacKenzie Collection was designed and crafted with the finest natural and performance fabrics that celebrate the textile heritage of Scotland. Options include On-Course golf wear and Club-House apparel comprised of knit and woven shirts, sweaters, shorts, golf slacks, dress slacks, outerwear, blazers and sport coats.
Behind the launch of the Alister MacKenzie line is Bert Hand, a man known throughout the apparel industry for bringing great brands to the market. Hand, former chairman and CEO of Chicago-based Hartmarx Corporation, turned the golf industry on its head twenty years ago with the introduction of Bobby Jones golf apparel. He recently saw an opportunity for a different premium line of men’s golf apparel and jumped at the chance to create something new.
“We have designed a true lifestyle collection that is classic and colorful with all natural cotton and wool textiles,” said Hand. “Our brand will have a strong focus on natural cotton, and it will therefore be different from anything in the market. Golfers moved away from cotton because it didn’t offer the moisture wicking available in synthetic performance wear. We have incorporated a technology for cotton that transfers moisture away from the skin to the outside of the fabric where it can evaporate, keeping you drier and more comfortable. We are sold on performance natural fibers. The soft feel, beautiful colors, and clean look of cotton products with the wicking properties of synthetics assure the Alister MacKenzie line will exceed expectations.”
On-Course and Club-House golf apparel will be the centerpiece of the MacKenzie Collection, along with exceptional items for fly fishing and wing shooting, Scotland’s other time-honored sporting activities. Plans also include the launch of a private label single malt whisky imported from Scotland.
Alister MacKenzie apparel will be found at club golf shops and better men’s specialty stores.
Additional information will soon be available on the company’s website www.mackenzieapparel.com which is currently under construction.
