Shore Gate Golf Club General Manager Harry J. Bittner elected by organization’s Board of Directors
(ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.) – The Greater Atlantic City Golf Association (GACGA) Board of Directors has named Shore Gate Golf Club General Manager Harry J. Bittner as its new president.
Bittner’s position entails overseeing the GACGA and working closely with the organization towards its mission of positioning the Greater Atlantic City region as one of the East Coast’s premier golf destinations.
A native of Philadelphia, Bittner began his career in the golf industry at — what was known at the time as Seaview Country Club — now Stockton Seaview Hotel & Golf Club. He quickly become known as a top-rate golf instructor and continued his skills in this area with tutelage under Hank Haney and Jim McLean.
Upon his return to the Philadelphia/New Jersey region, Bittner joined the staff of Stone Harbor Golf Club, where he developed his interest and skills in golf course design, marketing and customer service operations during 17 years with the organization. The club’s owner, Crown Golf Properties, named Bittner its first National General Manager of the Year in 2000.
In 2005, Bittner joined Shore Gate Golf Club in Ocean View, N.J., where he serves as General Manager and Director of Golf. Additionally, he has consulted with several golf course owners on new course design, construction and operations and is considered one of the leading authorities on the Southern New Jersey golf market.
“The Greater Atlantic City Golf Association has done a tremendous job putting South Jersey on the map as a golf destination,” stated Bittner. “I feel privileged to serve as the organization’s president and look forward to continuing its dynamic work growing the exposure of this region as a premier golf destination.”
Bittner attended Broward College and Florida Atlantic University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications. Bittner is a member of the Quarter Century Club of the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) and Associate Member of the Club Managers Association of America. He serves on the Board of the New Jersey Golf Course Owners Association.
