Cleated Shoes Continue Dominance at THE PLAYERS Championship

Winning Players Have Captured 27 of the 2017 PGA Tour Events in Footwear featuring replaceable cleats

(BRENTWOOD, Tenn.) - Nearly every winner on the PGA TOUR during the 2017 season has something in common – they chose the stability and performance of cleated shoes. With one of the young rising stars of golf capturing THE PLAYERS Championship, winners of 27 of the 28 events to date on the 2017 PGA TOUR have been wearing golf shoes with replaceable cleats when they won.*

Softspikes/CHAMP, the world’s best-selling golf cleat brands and the companies with the #1 Cleat in Golf, continue to dominate the major tours. This week’s winner in Ponte Vedra, Fla., was wearing the Adidas THiNTech golf cleats. With his three-stroke victory, the 21-year-old moved from 75th to 28th in the Official World Golf Rankings.

“You simply cannot argue with the results…the winners are wearing shoes with replaceable cleats,” said John Hohman, Vice President of Marketing for PrideSports. “Over the past four years, 189 out of 208 PGA TOUR events have been won by players wearing cleated shoes. That’s more than 90 percent!”

Shoes that allow for players to replace their cleats are versatile and provide superior traction on any surface of play versus “cleatless” products. In addition, as cleats wear over time, golfers can simply replace the cleats giving them the traction of essentially brand new shoes at a fraction of the cost.

“Athletes that play any sport on a variable surface – football, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, football, and others – wear cleated shoes in order to maximize performance and traction,” added Hohman. “Golf is no different. The winners on TOUR recognize and value the stability they get from cleated shoes that simply cannot be delivered by alternative footwear.”

PrideSports is the undisputed leader in the golf cleat segment with its CHAMP and Softspikes brands. CHAMP’s PiviX, Zarma and Stinger cleats, as well as Softspikes’ Pulsar, Silver Tornado and Stealth dominate both the OEM and secondary market in terms of performance and sales.
