(Scottsdale, Ariz.) – Kapalua Golf & Tennis Club and Troon announced that Jason Purcell has been named as the new director of tennis at the Kapalua Tennis Garden located on the island of Maui in Hawaii. The Kapalua Tennis Garden is an award-winning facility set in the beautiful lush landscape of the Kapalua Resort.
Prior to arriving at Kapalua, Jason served as the academy director and head tennis professional at The Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale, Ariz. from May 2012 through May 2016. During his tenure he managed a staff of 7 tennis professionals skilled in offering the finest instruction in tennis development pathways. He has won several industry recognitions and recently received the 2015 USTA National “Outstanding Facility of the Year” award. This honor is awarded to the facility that best exemplifies service to the community and to its members through youth and adult tennis programs.
Jason holds several professional certifications and has more than 25 years of coaching and program development experience at high performance tennis programs, country clubs and luxury resorts. A student of US Open quarter-finalist Andrew Pattison, Jason was a four-year scholarship athlete and two-time team captain at Northern Arizona University. Throughout his professional career, he has been fortunate to be mentored by many world-class coaches and has trained/played with several Grand Slam champions and finalists.
