St. Andrews Golf Art Salutes Open Champion Ernie Els as He Prepares to Defend Title

Ernie Els - The Big Easy by Simon Russell

(St. Andrews, Scotland) — St. Andrews Golf Art (www.standrewsgolfart.com) pays tribute to Ernie Els’ 2012 British Open victory as he prepares to defend his title this week at Muirfield in Gullane, Scotland.  St. Andrews Golf Art features artist Simon Russell’s evocative portrait of “The Big Easy.”  The work captures Els’ hallmark fluid and effortless swing in a limited edition of giclee prints.  Russell also painted Els’ 1994 U.S. Open win, which is available through St. Andrews Golf Art.

Els won his first Open title in 2002 at Muirfield in a four-way playoff.  Only six times in Open championship history has a golfer carded four rounds in the 60s and Els has achieved this record twice, in 1993 and 2004.  No player, however, has ever put together four rounds in the 60s at Muirfield.

An impressive collection of some of the Open’s most memorable shots and great champions by noted artists are available for purchase from the popular St. Andrews Golf Art gallery.  Based in the home of golf, St. Andrews Golf Art is an exceptional online resource for collectors who seek original art, open edition giclee prints (canvas and paper), lithographs or bronzes from established artists who have concentrated on golf as an inspiration for their work.
