Pursell Farms Selected as Charter Member of Exclusive Southern Living Hotel Collection

Boutique Resort Included Among a Select List of Iconic, Classic Destinations in the South

(SYLACAUGA, Ala.) –  Pursell Farms – the charming family-owned boutique resort nestled on 3,500 pristine acres an hour from Birmingham – has been selected as a member of the Southern Living Hotel Collection, a group of independent, four-and five-star level hotels, resorts and inns spanning 18 Southern states.

Hand-picked by Southern Living Magazine, Pursell Farms is the lone Alabama resort of the 15 charter hotels that includes Blackberry Farm in Tennessee, Big Cedar Lodge in Missouri, Monmouth Historic Inn in Mississippi and Wentworth Mansion in South Carolina. The collection brings the Southern Living brand to life in various ways for consumers, featuring Southern Living Test Kitchen-approved recipes and offering branded classes or events.

A new website – www.SouthernLivingHotelCollection.com – features all of the properties in the collection where consumers can sort the hotels by spa, family-friendly and other criteria, as well make reservations directly from the site.

“Being a member of this elite collection solidifies Pursell Farms as a truly unique and chic Southern resort,” said Pursell Farms’ co-founder and CEO David Pursell.  “We continuously expand and improve our hospitality services and amenities in order to exceed guest expectations and remain amongst this exclusive class of hotels.”

Pursell Farms is home to world-class fishing and hunting, 5-stand clay shooting, flexible meeting space and wedding services. The property features the No. 1-rated public-access golf course in the state, FarmLinks Golf Club, which is also the world’s first and only research and demonstration course. Overnight accommodations are available in deluxe accommodations and visitors choose between quaint cabins or cottages, the rustic Parker Lodge and the Southern-style guesthouse.

The resort recently welcomed award-winning Executive Chef Andrea Griffith to its hospitality staff and she has spearheaded a number of unique events, including a “Vine & Dine” dinner, a Valentine’s Day-themed “Chocolate Romance” and the upcoming “TomatoTASTE” on Saturday, July 27 from 5-8 p.m. Griffith works closely with local farmers to obtain the freshest ingredients to create country-style, flavorful food. She also utilizes Pursell Farms’ one-acre garden to offer seasonal “farm-to-fork” dining experiences and bottles and serves her own home-made condiments.

“The 15 charter members of the Southern Living Hotel Collection are made up of iconic Southern resorts, historic Southern hotels and newly discovered Southern inns,” said Southern Living Publisher Greg Schumann. "We're very proud of our unique collection as they all serve to provide the very best in Southern hospitality."
