PING Continues Strategic Partnership with EWGA

(PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL) – EWGA (, the trend-setting organization which enables current and aspiring business and professional women to learn, connect and play through golf, has announced that PING has returned as a supporting partner in 2012.

“PING has had a very rewarding relationship with women’s golf over the years,” said John A. Solheim, CEO and Chairman of PING.  “We are happy to extend our relationship with the EWGA who is doing some great work in helping to grow the interest by women in golf and we are excited about being a part of that.”

Founded in 1959, the company designs, manufactures and markets a complete line of golf equipment, including metal woods, irons, putters, and golf bags.  The company began in the garage of Karsten Solheim, a mechanical engineer whose frustration with putting inspired him to design his own putter, which created a "pinging" sound when striking a golf ball. This sound was the source of the name now synonymous with innovation, quality and service throughout the world of golf.

Today, the Phoenix-based company is under the direction of Solheim's youngest son, John A. Solheim.  PING game-improvement products can be found in more than 70 countries.

Based on a 2011 survey conducted by the PGA of America, EWGA members represent some of the most passionate golfers in the game, logging more than 35 rounds annually on average and spending over $4,500 individually towards rounds, equipment, travel and other golf-related items. The majority are in their prime earning years, with 27% in management or senior management positions within small and large international corporations.  Many were beginner golfers when they first joined, hoping to advance their careers and their game.
