(Scottsdale, Ariz.) – Troon, the leader in golf course management, development, and marketing has been selected to manage Tumble Brook Country Club in Bloomfield, Conn., located just outside of Hartford.
Since its founding in 1922, Tumble Brook Country Club has grown in three distinct phases. The first 9-holes, designed by legendary golf course architect Willie Park Jr., opened in 1924. In 1949, 9 Orrin Smith-designed holes were added. And, in the fall of 1970 the third 9-holes, designed by George Fazio, opened for play. In 2005, work was completed on a 27-hole course renovation directed by Mark McCumber and Associates.
“Tumble Brook Country Club is one of Connecticut’s great private clubs,” said Jim McLaughlin, senior vice president, Troon Privé Operations. “Like many private clubs, the recession of 2008 hit Tumble Brook pretty hard. The members have done an outstanding job of resurrecting the club. We’re excited to now be managing Tumble Brook and look to build upon the club’s storied history.”
Members and their guests enjoy a wide range of recreational and social activities at the club’s well-equipped facilities. Family-friendly amenities include five Har-Tru tennis courts, two paddle tennis courts, a 25-yard heated pool, kiddie pool and play area. The golf practice facilities include a practice putting green, bunker area and a chipping green.
Tumble Brook’s 40,000 square-foot clubhouse features full service golf and tennis pro shops, casual indoor and outdoor dining options, private meeting and banquet rooms, a ballroom with seating for up to 300, men’s and women’s locker and card rooms.
“We are excited about our new relationship with Troon Privé as they are highly respected in the private club industry and will help us improve our overall club experience,” said Gary Greenberg, board president, Tumble Brook Country Club. “In addition, the global benefits of the Troon Privé Privilege program will provide our members with access to Troon’s portfolio of world-class private clubs.”
