Top 10 Courses in Idaho Named in February edition
(Sun Valley, Idaho) - The Trail Creek golf course at historic Sun Valley Resort (sunvalley.com) has been named to Golf Digest’s “Best in State” biennial listings, capturing one of 10 top spots for private, resort and public courses throughout Idaho.
The listing appears in the February 2013 edition of the international leading golf publication, released on its iPad version recently and in the print edition that will hit newsstands this month. The Robert Trent Jones, Jr. layout ranked ninth among an elite list, and was only one of four public courses officially ranked.
“Trail Creek is a perennial favorite for its classic resort routing, stunning views of Bald Mountain and Trail Creek, and its overall playability,” says Rick Hickman, Director of Golf at Sun Valley Resort. “Guests return because it’s a fun course to enjoy, with plenty of risk-and-reward holes.”
The 6,968-yard, par-72 course - one of three at the south-central mountain resort – will open its 2013 golf season in late April or early May. The resort began renovations of its first hole late in late fall, anticipated to be complete in early July.
Features include the breathtaking seventh hole, with an elevated tee box offering picture-perfect views and a forced carry over the babbling Trail Creek, and the 17th hole, the longest and toughest par 3 on the course.
Courses are rated by panelists based on seven criteria: shot values, resistance to scoring, design variety, memorability, aesthetics, conditioning and ambience. Sun Valley was also named one of Golf Digest’s Top 75 Golf Resorts in America in late 2012, and is consistently ranked nationally as a best-in-state public course.
Sun Valley’s 2013 golf package offering for both its Trail Creek and White Clouds courses will be released in early spring, including its popular Early Birdie special. See www.sunvalley.com/golf or call or call 800-786-8259 for information on tee times and events throughout the 2013 golf season.
