(NORTHBROOK, Illinois) – KemperSports is proud to announce that it supports nearly half of the top 20 courses on Golfweek’s 2021 list of the best resort courses in the United States. - The Gold Course at Golden Horseshoe (Williamsburg, Virginia)
KemperSports-managed Golden Horseshoe (The Gold Course) in Williamsburg, Virginia, has ranked among Golfweek’s Best Resort Courses since the list debuted in 2005. A Robert Trent Jones Sr. design from 1963, its Gold Course features many water holes and tree lined fairways. Recently renovated, the golf course has the latest in modern turf grasses as well as new grass on the fairways, greens, and surrounding roughs. It also utilizes “Better Billy Bunker” construction to improve the drainage, look, and playability of bunkers.
Bandon Dunes and Pacific Dunes at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort have also been staples on the list – consistently ranking in the top 10 ever year. Designed by Scotsman David McLay Kidd in 1999, Bandon Dunes is perched on a bluff high above the Pacific Ocean and unfolds along pristine native dunes where expansive ocean views are revealed on nearly every hole. Opened in 2001 and designed by Tom Doak, Pacific Dunes is remarkably different in character and shot making requirements -- rippling fairways remain just as they were found, and natural bunkers line the landscape as they have for centuries. KemperSports has managed resort and golf operations for this one-of-a-kind resort on the Oregon coast since its inception.
KemperSports’ expertise and track record has led to steady growth in its resort portfolio over the last decade. Most recently, it assumed management of all hotel, restaurant, recreation, and spa operations at Central Florida’s Streamsong Resort. KemperSports has led golf operations since the opening of Streamsong Red and Streamsong Blue in 2012.
According to Ben Pratt, senior vice president of government and public affairs at The Mosaic Company, which owns Streamsong Resort, “KemperSports has a long and distinguished record of building and managing some of the nation’s top golf destinations, and I look forward to working with them in pursuit of ever-better experiences for Streamsong guests.”
