The Path From ‘Many to One’ Begins

Entry Applications for 120th U.S. Open Championship Are Now Available

(LIBERTY CORNER, N.J.) – The United States Golf Association (USGA) announced that online entry applications are now available for the 120th U.S. Open Championship, to be conducted from June 18-21 at Winged Foot Golf Club (West Course), in Mamaroneck, N.Y.

The U.S. Open’s new brand campaign, which was launched last week and includes the slogan “From Many, One,” celebrates the nearly 10,000 golfers who will attempt to qualify for the championship, the 156 who will advance to Winged Foot, and the one who will be crowned U.S. Open champion. Non-exempt players will compete in one of 109 local qualifiers hosted throughout the United States (with one in Canada) between April 27 and May 12. Nearly 1,000 players will then compete in final qualifying, scheduled at 12 sites worldwide between May 18 and June 8.

Entry applications along with a list of qualifying sites can be accessed at champs.usga.org, and entries will be accepted through Wednesday, April 22, at 5 p.m. EDT. To be eligible for 2020 U.S. Open qualifying, a player must have a Handicap Index not exceeding 1.4, or be a professional.

Allied Golf Associations in the United States, along with golf associations and professional tours around the world, work together to provide thousands of entrants from across the globe with the opportunity to compete for a spot in a major championship. This collaboration allows for an open qualifying process in all four USGA Open championships and helps to make the U.S. Open the uniquely democratic championship that it is, offering golfers of all backgrounds a chance to etch their name into the history books.

Entry applications for the other three USGA Open championships are also available. The 75th U.S. Women’s Open Championship will be played June 4-7 at Champions Golf Club (Cypress Creek Course), in Houston, Texas. The 41st U.S. Senior Open Championship will be contested June 25-28 at Newport (R.I.) Country Club, and the third U.S. Senior Women’s Open Championship will be held July 9-12, at Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield, Conn.
