(ORLANDO, FL) – LITTLE GOLF T.R.A.I.N. will be an Approved Education Provider with the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Division, whose members can earn 4 CU credits for becoming a Little Golf T.R.A.I.N. Certified Conductor (Instructor). As part of this new alliance with the LPGA, Little Golf T.R.A.I.N. will be hosting a webinar for LPGA members in 2016.
Co-founders Patricia Donnelly, PhD., and Nicole Weller, LPGA, PGA, envision Little Golf T.R.A.I.N. as an age-appropriate, developmentally correct way to introduce very young children, ages 2-5, to golf before they become committed to other sports such as soccer, baseball, football, basketball, tennis and swimming.
“Parents and coaches want our youngest golfers to truly enjoy the game and learn the correct fundamentals, but many young children are taught as if they are little adults, which doesn’t foster a love of golf,” says Dr. Donnelly, a world-renowned educational sport psychotherapist. “That’s why we developed the T.R.A.I.N. approach, which is based on teaching through play.” Says Weller, a highly respected LPGA and PGA member and Head Teaching Professional at The Landings Club, in Savannah, GA.: “Our program is rooted in early-childhood, age-appropriate techniques and is designed to foster joy in learning about the game. Our goal is to certify golf professionals around the world so they can introduce children to golf in an age-appropriate way and at the same time grow their own business.”
Dr. Donnelly and Ms. Weller will discuss how to introduce very young children (ages 2-5) to the game of golf in a developmentally correct and age-appropriate way at the PGA Youth and Family Golf Summit, Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, in Orlando, FL, at 11:15 am in the Chapin Theater, Orange County Convention Center.
A major media announcement, describing in detail the scope of Little Golf T.R.A.I.N., will be made on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 11 am, in the PGA Show Media Center, third level of the OCCC in Room W311. There will also be a Little Golf T.R.A.I.N. reception at The Littlest Golfer booth (4649), Jan. 27, 5:15 - 6 pm.
