High-Tech, Multi-Material Constructions Improve Stability, Alignment and Feel
(FAIRHAVEN, Mass.) – New Scotty Cameron Futura X7 and X7M putters utilize innovative face-sole core technology with advanced perimeter weighting to increase stability and forgiveness throughout the stroke, while providing easy alignment and a soft, sure feel.
Futura X7 and X7M are the next evolution of Master Craftsman Scotty Cameron’s tour-proven Futura X line, a putter family defined by modern contours that deliver high-MOI performance – resistance to twisting during the stroke – through advanced perimeter weighting.
“The motivation behind Futura X always has been to help golfers make a more stable, more balanced, more consistent, more confident stroke,” Cameron said. “We’ve enhanced those benefits with X7 and X7M through larger, multi-material constructions that make alignment simple. For the golfer, that translates into higher MOI for stability, a bigger sweet spot for forgiveness, easier alignment for a more confident setup, and a better, softer feel.”
Futura X7 is a large, modern wingback mallet (approximately 10 percent larger than the Futura X5) with horizontal and vertical sight lines, while Futura X7M offers a unique pop-through bar-back mallet design for additional MOI and stability. (The “M” in X7M stands for “MOI.”) Futura X7M Dual Balance combines the X7M head style with tour-proven Dual Balance technology for maximum stability in a non-anchored stroke.
Each Futura X7 model features a lightweight aluminum face-sole core surrounded by a stainless steel frame. This multi-material construction delivers improved MOI for stability and forgiveness, while producing the softest sound and feel in the Futura X family.
“The key feature is the two materials,” Cameron said. “Basically there are two constructions involved here. The feel and sound of the lightweight midsection are married together with the heavier surrounding heel, toe and back to be more forgiving, for better performance.”
Available in stores beginning Oct. 23, Futura X7 and X7M models are currently in the bags of many players across the worldwide professional tours, including Jason Dufner, Brendon De Jonge, Zac Blair and Byeong-Hun An, who recently won on the Korean PGA Tour trusting a Futura X7M model.
FUTURA X7 TECHNOLOGY: Futura X7 models improve putting performance through large, high-tech, multi-material constructions:
• Larger Club Heads with higher MOI deliver greater resistance to twist for increased stability and a larger sweet spot for more forgiveness.
• A Multi-Material Construction – featuring a new Face-Sole Core milled from lightweight aircraft-grade aluminum, integrated with a precision-milled 303 stainless steel frame – moves weight out and back for improved MOI and greater stability. The steel frame is seamlessly connected to the aluminum face-sole core at five key points with vibrations dampening technology that helps deliver the softest sound and feel in the Futura X line.
• Larger club heads with longer alignment lines provide Easy Alignment for more confidence at address.
“X7 and X7M are more forgiving, better sounding, better feeling and better performing products,” Cameron said. “What we are building today was not done five years ago. The technology, machinery and computers to design and the milling machines to create are limitless. Now it comes down to sound, feel and performance – and we’ve got it. The best players in the world are going to the X7 and X7M.”
FUTURA X7: New Futura X7 has a high-tech, wingback mallet design with a multi-material face-sole core construction. The head shape is identical to Futura X5 but approximately 10 percent larger, with additional horizontal and vertical sight lines.
“The X7 is a line extension of the X5. It has the same head shape but larger,” Cameron said. “A lot of touring pros requested it be larger. The larger we make it, the more forgiving it becomes with a larger sweet spot. This also allows us to add more alignment lines. The more lines, the easier it is to line up the ball.”
FUTURA X7M: New Futura X7M features a unique bar-back mallet design that moves weight farther behind the putter face for higher MOI. A new pop-through rail alignment system, created by the face-sole core, provides a clear, easy setup for more confidence at address.
“With X7M I wanted a round shape with a crisp and sharp look for alignment. X7 and X7M have a lot of the same features but the X7M is manipulated and made with a back weight for more MOI – thus the name, X7M, where the ‘M’ stands for MOI,” Cameron said. “Instead of having big ears and weights in the back, which some might call cumbersome, the bar on the back with the weights streamlines the shape. A few tour players also said shadowing on the course can sometimes affect sight lines, so on the X7M I raised the alignment lines and made them even longer.”
FUTURA X7M DUAL BALANCE: New Futura X7M Dual Balance combines the X7M head design with Dual Balance technology to provide maximum stability for golfers who struggle to make a consistent stroke with a conventional length putter. Like all Dual Balance models, Futura X7M DB has a 50-gram heavier head (400 grams total) and a 50-gram counterweight in the butt of the shaft. This configuration helps many players make a proper stroke where the butt of the shaft remains pointed at the midsection. Dual Balance putters have a standard length of 38 inches with a 15-inch grip that allows the player to grip down below the counterweight for a more stable stroke.
FACE-BALANCED DESIGN WITH SINGLE BEND SHAFT: All Futura X7 models feature a single bend shaft with a high bend point that produces a true face-balanced configuration, and one shaft of offset for a clean, tour-preferred appearance.
MATCHING GRIP FOR ENHANCED PERFORMANCE: The larger, mallet head designs of Futura X7 and X7M work in harmony with the 10-inch Matador Mid Red Midsize grip. The grip, weighing in at 77 grams, feels great and promotes a more stable stroke.
