Ken Bishara and partner David Bonina introduced the golf industry to the 3-piece Monsta Golf ball. Now, get to know Bishara and more about Monsta Golf.
American Golfer: Why did you decide to enter the golf ball market?
Ken Bishara: This was easy, we love golf and what better way of starting your own business than doing something you love?
AG: How did you decide on the Monsta name?
KB: It’s a Boston thing! Boston Red Sox and the Green Monster … it sounds cool with a ‘wink’ to our Boston roots.
AG: What’s your favorite thing about being in the golf business?
KB: All the people we have met and interacted with on social media for access around the country and the world and the positive feedback we get on our ball. Our customers see us on [Facebook], Twitter then decide to give us a try and are ‘Wowed’ by results they get.
AG: How do you sell a premium ball without a premium cost?
KB: By selling exclusively online/social media, we don’t need to have the traditional markups and middleman costs associated with selling the traditional method of brick-and-mortar stores
AG: When did you start playing golf?
KB: Dave has been playing for 20+ years, Ken for 5 years.
AG: What course tops your “bucket list” to play?
KB: For me its the TPC in Norton, Ma (not that exotic, but watching the PGA Tour for years right in my backyard has always been a dream. Dave, Pebble Beach.
AG: What’s the future of Monsta Golf?
KB: Continue to bring a quality golf ball to market at a reasonable price point. We have started custom logo printing. We hope to being a 2-piece, lower compression ball and an optic yellow version of our 3-piece ball to market in 2016/2017.
