Former World No. 5 Amateur and NCAA First-Team All-American Turns Professional
(Carlsbad, Calif.) – TaylorMade Golf Company announced the signing of high-ranking amateur golfer Gavin Green. Green reached as high as fifth on the men’s World Amateur Golf Ranking during his amateur career. The 21-year-old Malaysia native made his professional debut last month on the Asian Development Tour at the PGM Ragman Putra Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
As a TaylorMade-adidas Golf staff member, Green will play TaylorMade golf clubs and ball, wear a TaylorMade glove and headwear, use a TaylorMade Staff bag and wear adidas footwear and apparel.
“I am very excited to begin my professional career and I am very grateful to TaylorMade and adidas for their confidence in me,” said Green. “I’ve put in a lot of hard work to get to this point in my career and I’m excited to begin this next chapter in my life as a professional.”
“We are thrilled to have Gavin join the TaylorMade-adidas family,” said Chuck Presto, TaylorMade-adidas Golf’s senior vice president of sports marketing. “Gavin showed a lot of potential and ability during his time as an amateur and we are confident that this will translate into stellar results as a professional.”
Considered one of Asia’s top young talents, Green experienced a highly successful collegiate career as a three-time All American at The University of New Mexico in the United States, where he set the school’s record with eight career victories. Green became the first player to win as an amateur on the Asian Development Tour in June of 2014 with an 11-stroke margin of victory at the PGM Vascory Tempmler Park Championship. He ended his amateur career as the 12th ranked amateur golfer in the world and Asia’s second-highest ranked amateur.
