USGA Welcomes P.J. Boatwright Internship Class of 2018 to Liberty Corner Campus

121 Internships Provide a Pathway to Careers in Golf

(LIBERTY CORNER, N.J.) - The United States Golf Association (USGA), through its Allied Golf Associations located in every state, is providing 121 paid internships in 2018, helping to empower college students and qualified applicants with valuable experience toward a career in golf administration.

The P.J. Boatwright Internship Program, named for one of the USGA’s most respected executive directors, was founded in 1991 and has since provided more than $28 million to fund nearly 2,400 internships at the state and regional golf association level.

“Providing opportunities for the next generation of leaders in golf is one of the most important roles we can play as stewards of the game,” said Mike Davis, CEO of the USGA. “In partnership with our AGAs, we’ve significantly expanded the reach of the program and will continue creating meaningful pathways to employment in golf.”

Interns visited the USGA campus in Liberty Corner, N.J., this week for a two-day orientation, with USGA subject-matter experts leading training sessions on topics such as championship administration, community outreach programming, course rating, agronomy, Rules, golf handicapping and partnerships.
