ECCO Golf Ambassador Minjee Lee Wins Oates Vic Open

(LONDONDERRY, NH) – ECCO – a leading manufacturer of innovative footwear – confirms that Minjee Lee claimed a triumphant victory at the Ladies European Tour’s Oates Vic Open in Australia on Sunday wearing ECCO BIOM G 2.

Lee fired a final round of 67 to win at the event she also won as an amateur in 2014, aged just 17. Entering the final round at 13th Beach Golf Links with a one-shot lead, Lee carded five birdies and an eagle en route to a five-shot victory at the first event of the 2018 LET calendar.

“I was a little bit nervous out there, coming down the stretch, but I think I put that pressure on myself, so it’s nice to come out with a win,” said Lee. “I won this tournament as an amateur and it’s great to come back and do it as a pro. Twice is a charm!”

Having won three times on the LPGA Tour since turning pro in 2014, this victory is the 21-year-old from Perth’s fourth as a professional, but her first on home soil.

“To have won four times as a professional at only 21 is quite remarkable. Lee continues to climb the women’s World Golf Rankings as she establishes her position as one of the best in the female game today, and we’re absolutely thrilled for her with this latest victory,” said Jesper Thuen, Head of Asia-Pacific and sponsorship at ECCO Golf. “We’re delighted that several of the LPGA Tour’s brightest talents continue to choose to compete in our footwear, and we’re looking forward to another successful for year for all of our ambassadors in 2018.”

The women’s ECCO BIOM G 2 features an athletic, ECCO HYDROMAX treated ECCO Racer Yak leather upper, as well as a technical insole system and anatomical last.

The design is also highlighted by exceptional support and comfort via ECCO BIOM NATURAL MOTION technology that mirrors the foot’s anatomical shape bringing the player closer to the ground, and a visible, carbon-look stability bar running heel to mid-foot.

ECCO GOLF shoes are worn in competition around the world by Fred Couples, Ernie Els, Smylie Kaufman, Peter Hanson, Thomas Bjørn, Lydia Ko, Minjee Lee, Caroline Masson and Gerina Piller, among others.
