(Palm Beach Gardens, FL) - Gary Player’s son, Wayne Player, announces the launch of the Player Amateur Tour, the most exciting golf tour format in the world – Don’t be just a Golfer, be a Player.
Wayne Player, Tour Commissioner of The Player Tour LLC, recently announced the launch of the Player Amateur Tour and the Player Corporate Cup at the PGA Show in Orlando. Wayne’s father, legendary golfer Gary Player, said that “I am very proud of Wayne for continuing the family legacy of encouraging golfers of all abilities to enjoy the competitiveness of the game and wish him great luck with this exciting new venture.”
The Tour consists of a separate men and ladies Tour, its unique format allow members to select their own time and location to play a round of golf – enabling players of each gender to compete against each other despite not being able to play at the same time/event or venue.
“We have created a platform for golfers of all skill levels to compete in a variety of flights and divisions, from USGA - affiliated members and to even players with no official golf club affiliation or handicap,” said Wayne Player.
Top performing golfers will become eligible to compete in Regional tournaments, all-expenses paid, with the top six players from each of the various flights and divisions qualifying for a six-day, all-expenses paid trip to Las Vegas to compete in the season-ending OnCore Million Dollar Championship at TPC Las Vegas – featuring $1,075,000 hole-in-one cash prizes.
“Together with our Sponsors - OnCore Golf, Argolf Putters, Skimp, Easy Glove, Nucalm and Par Bar, we have taken the time to customize unique experiences for our members, it’s all about their benefits, inexpensive membership fees, unmatched rewards, unparalleled golfing trips and an opportunity for amateurs to win $1,075,000 cash. Everything we do is tailored to meet our member’s expectations.”
“As anyone who has followed OnCore Golf knows, our focus since inception has been to bring products, technologies, and approaches to golf that make it more accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable. The approach being taken by the Player Amateur Tour will provide golfers of all backgrounds, skills, and geographies an opportunity to compete for amazing prizes. We’re very excited about the impact the Player Amateur Tour will have on growing the game,” said Keith Blakely, Chairman & CEO of OnCore Golf.
“This distinctive format for the masses will not only revolutionize the way golfers from across the United States can compete, but will also serve as an outstanding platform for raising funds for the JDRF Foundation, the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes, a disease that I have suffered from myself for many years,” said Wayne Player.
“Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that strikes both children and adults suddenly. It has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. There is nothing you can do to prevent it. And, at present, there is no cure.”
