Product Review: Boxgroove

Do you have a golfer on your holiday list who wants to play some of the finest private courses across the country? Sure, but most of us don’t have the money to wrap the pricey initiation and membership fees in a package with a nice bow. Even if you had the wherewithal to join a private club, that generally allows for play on that course, alone, with some reciprocal play ... perhaps.

A membership with Boxgroove is your ticket to give the gift of the best private golf the country has to offer. Founded in 2009, Boxgroove has amassed a network of more than 600 private clubs in 49 states and three countries. And the network continues to add new clubs at an astonishing rate, averaging at least one per week. From Galloway National Golf Club in New Jersey to Oregon’s Pumpkin Ridge, Boxgroove has an abundance of choices to satisfy the tastes of the most discerning golfer.

How does Boxgroove work? Join, browse affiliated courses online, make a tee time. Simple.

An opportunity like this can’t be cheap, right? Wrong. While Boxgroove offers a free membership option, no doubt you’ll want to opt for the $49 Value Membership. The free membership allows your golfer to request and purchase tee times offered in the network, but a $19.95 booking fee is assessed. The Value Membership - good for 12 months upon the day purchased - includes all of those benefits and abilities, but the booking fee is waived. That will add up quickly. They even throw in a sleeve of Titleist golf balls.

Once you have access - and your free sleeve of golf balls - golfers can expect to pay a standard accompanied guest rate or unaccompanied guest rate. As you can imagine, that varies from course to course - often ranging from $50 to a couple hundred - a small price to pay while forging new golf relationships and networking on some of the country’s finest private courses.

Your gift of Boxgroove doesn’t have to stop with the lucky recipient, either. Most clubs allow the booking golfer to bring guests that are not members of Boxgroove. All golfers will be required to agree to the Boxgroove user agreement and the club's specific code of conduct, which is e-mailed prior to play.

Wrap up 18 holes at Black Diamond Ranch in Florida, or put a bow on a round at Arizona’s Pine Canyon. Giving the gift of Boxgroove allows you to grant access to hundreds of elite courses.

Visit www.boxgroove.com to see the ever-growing list and sign up today - or give a gift that will be appreciated all year long.

This service is a waste of your money and time. McRedmond (the owner) will have no problem talking to you on the phone as soon as he gets his money! He will not give refunds and will tell you the course has the money now and that you are out of luck. He doesn't even research the courses before you pay and play them. Do yourself a favor and don't try Boxgroove!
