Orlando, Fla. Chapter Team Wins Match Play Competition
(PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.) – Eight women amateur golfers from Orlando, Fla. took home the EWGA 2012 Champions Cup at Sycuan Resort’s Oak Glen Course in El Cajon, California this weekend, in the organization’s second annual match play national championship.
Members of the winning team included Janet Van Slyke, Misty Wise, Belinda Symmes, Carolyn Aldorfer, Cathy Monforte, Tamara Boardwine, Alina Polak and Heidi Bedell.
“The team match play competition is exciting and a great opportunity for the women to play together against other teams from across the country,” said EWGA CEO Pam Swensen. “We had over 120 women competing for the Champions Cup and congratulate the O-Town Q-Tees on a well-played match.”
Eligibility was open to all members of the EWGA, the national organization of current and aspiring business and professional women who play golf. Those in the field must have a verifiable USGA Handicap Index and be members in good standing. Four semi-final tournaments were held to determine the final field.
The Championship included four singles and four four-ball matches.
The Sandies of the Sandhills, N.C. chapter near Pinehurst and the Cleveland Birdie Bunch of Cleveland, Ohio were tied for second place with 7.5 points at the end of the final day. The tie was broken by quality of wins, comparing the total number of holes up for all matches for both days.

First Place: O-Town Q-Tees (Orlando, Fla. Chapter -- 9.5 points)
Janet Van Slyke
Second Place: Sandies (Sandhills, N.C. -- 7.5 points)
Third Place: Cleveland Birdie Bunch (Cleveland, Ohio Chapter -- 7.5 points)
