Titleist Golf Ball Loyalists Sweep Worldwide Tours

Poulter, Lehman, Lewis Lead Titleist to Four-Win Week

(Fairhaven, MA) -  There was more proof across the worldwide professional tours this week demonstrating just how far trust in one’s game and golf ball can take them.  At the WGC-HSBC Champions in China, Titleist Pro V1x loyalist Ian Poulter earned his second career World Golf Championships title in dramatic come-from-behind fashion.  On the LPGA Tour, Stacy Lewis also relied upon the Pro V1x and provided final round heroics of her own, rallying from seven shots back to win the Mizuno Classic in Japan.  Tom Lehman, placing his trust in the Pro V1, became the first Champions Tour player to win the season-long Charles Schwab Cup in consecutive years.

An additional win on the Sunshine Tour in South Africa brings the 2012 Titleist victory total to 170, more than eight times the nearest competitor with 21.  Performance when it matters most.  It’s what makes Titleist the #1 choice worldwide.

Highlights
WGC: Titleist Pro V1x golf ball loyalist Ian Poulter closed with a 7-under par 65 to rally from four strokes back to win the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shenzhen, China.  Poulter carded eight birdies in the final round to finish with a 21-under 267 victory total, two shots clear of four players, including Titleist Brand Ambassadors Jason Dufner (Pro V1, 910D2 driver, 913Fd fairway metal, 906F2 fairway metal, 913H hybrid, AP2 irons, Vokey Design SM4 sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron putter) and Scott Piercy (Pro V1x, 910D2 driver, 913Fd fairway metal, 690MB/AP2 irons, Vokey Design SM pitching, gap, sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron GoLo putter).  Dufner fired a final round 8-under par 65, one better than Piercy.

The win was Poulter's second World Golf Championship victory - he also captured the Accenture Match Play Championship in 2010 - and the 14th of his professional career.  The champion also relied upon a Titleist 909H hybrid, 913Hd hybrid and Vokey Design sand and lob wedges for his success.
Third round co-leaders and fellow Pro V1x loyalists, Lee Westwood and Louis Oosthuizen, shot identical final round scores of even par 72 to finish in a tie for sixth place.  Westwood put himself atop the leaderboard on Saturday with a third round 11-under 61.  Oosthuizen was 16-under after two rounds, recording the lowest 36-hole score in a WGC event since they began in 1999.

Titleist Brand Ambassadors Adam Scott (New Pro V1 prototype golf ball, 910D3 driver, 910Fd fairway metal, 712U prototype 2-iron, MB irons, Vokey Design Spin Milled pitching, sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Kombi Long putter) and Bill Haas (Pro V1x, 913D2 driver, 913F fairway metal, 913Hd hybrid, CB irons, Vokey Design Spin Milled sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Tour Rat putter) finished solo eighth and 10th, respectively, as 7 of the top 10 finishers relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success.

Scott was playing the new Pro V1 prototype golf ball and 712U prototype 2-iron for the first time in competition.

Titleist was the most played golf ball with 46 players in the field of 78, more than four times the nearest competitor with 10.  Titleist was also first in iron sets (22) and wedges (72).

LPGA:  Titleist Pro V1x golf ball loyalist Stacy Lewis fired a final round 8-under par 64 en route to a come-from-behind, one-shot win at the Mizuno Classic.  Lewis, who was seven shots back to start the day, finished with an 11-under par 205 victory total for her fourth win of the season and the fifth of her career.  The second-ranked women's player in the world, Lewis has also won the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic, ShopRite LPGA Classic and Navistar LPGA Classic this year.

Lewis edged second-round leader Bo-Mee Lee (Pro V1), who closed with an even-par 72, while women's world No. 1 Yani Tseng (Pro V1x) posted a final round 68 to finish solo fourth at 7-under 209.

Titleist was the most played golf ball with 38 players, nearly three times the nearest competitor with 13.

CHAMPIONS:  Titleist Pro V1 loyalist Tom Lehman captured the Charles Schwab Cup Championship to become the first player to win the season-long points title two straight years.  After taking a one-stroke lead into the final round, Lehman birdied four of the last five holes to close with a 5-under 65 and a six-stroke win.  His 22-under 258 total broke the tournament mark for lowest score and tied the record in relation to par.

Lehman's win marks the 17th for Titleist golf ball players over the 23-event schedule on the 2012 Champions Tour (74%), more than eight times the nearest competitor with 2.  The champion also relied upon Vokey Design SM4 sand and lob wedges and a Scotty Cameron GSS putter for his success.

Jay Haas (Pro V1, 910D2 driver, 910F fairway metal, 910H hybrid, 909H hybrid, CB irons, Vokey Design SM4 sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Studio Design putter), who closed with a 69 to shoot four consecutive rounds in the 60's, finished solo second.  Haas matched the Champions Tour record with a second round 10-under par 60, which also broke the course record on Desert Mountain's Cochise layout.

Jay Don Blake (Pro V1x, 910F fairway metal, 910H hybrid, AP2 irons, Vokey Design Spin Milled sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Newport Select putter), the defending champion and first-round leader after opening with a 64, finished solo third, as Titleist golf ball loyalists posted a 1-2-3 finish in the season finale.

Of 30 players in the exclusive field, 23 teed up a Titleist, more than seven times the nearest competitor with 3.  Titleist was also the top choice in the iron (7), wedge (22) and putter (9) categories.

SOUTH AFRICA: Doug McGuigan (Pro V1x, CB irons, Vokey Design wedges) earned his sixth career win in South Africa, posting a 1-up victory in the 18-hole final of the ISPS Handa Match Play Championship.  The event was the first utilizing the match play format on the Sunshine Tour schedule in 25 years.  Of the 112 players who went head-to-head this week, 82 (73%) relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success, more than three times the nearest competitor with 25.

ASIA-PACIFIC AMATEUR:  In the field of 120 at the Asia-Pacific Amateur, 94 players (78%), including the 14-year old winner (Pro V1x), relied upon a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball.  Titleist was also the top choice in iron sets (34), wedges (135) and putters (46).  Titleist was second in drivers with 39, two shy of the leader.
