Alberta Canadian Rockies Courses Open 2012 Golf Season in Early May

(ALBERTA, CANADA) - Bolstered by international recognition in Golfweek and Golf Digest magazines as the one of the highest-ranking collection of public golf courses in the country, Alberta Canadian Rockies golf courses will open the 2012 season on May 4.

The seven courses in Banff, Jasper, Canmore and Kananaskis Country, branded under the destination name Canadian Rockies Golf (, will open their golf courses for spring mountain play over the next several weeks. Opening dates are as follows.

* Canmore Golf & Curling Club (Canmore): Open May 4
* The Fairmont Banff Springs (Banff): Open May 4
* The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge (Jasper): Open May 4
* Stewart Creek Golf Club (Canmore): Open May 9
* Kananaskis Country Golf Course (Kananaskis): Open May 11 (both Mt. Kidd and Mt. Lorette)
* Silvertip Resort (Canmore): Open May 17

Golfweek magazine named five of the courses in its Best Canadian Courses list, released in mid-April. The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and The Fairmont Banff Springs were listed second and fourth, respectively, to its Best Canadian Classic Courses list; Kananaskis Country's Mount Kidd and Mount Lorette as well as Canmore's Stewart Creek were listed to the Top Modern Courses in Canada list.

Golf Digest also named The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge to its "100 Best Outside the U.S." international golf rankings in its April edition. Both The Fairmont Banff Springs and The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge were also named to Conde Nast Traveler's "Top 121 Golf Resorts in the World" list, released this month.

Value-priced golf packages that combine play on any of the seven courses, accommodations and adventure are now available at, starting at $174 CAD per person, per night.
