Wilson Enhances Its DUO® SOFT Golf Ball for Faster Ball Speeds, Longer Distances

— Wilson Sporting Goods Co. today announced an upgrade to DUO SOFT, the world’s softest golf ball*. Driving improved distance is a new core formulation that is engineered to deliver faster ball speeds with the same soft feel. The upgraded DUO SOFT will be available for purchase on Thursday, Jan. 19.

“Wilson introduced the low compression golf ball category nearly 20 years ago, and this improved DUO SOFT golf ball exemplifies that we continue to lead in innovation for every golfer who values long, straight distance with remarkably soft feel,” said Tim Clarke, President of Wilson Golf. “This new DUO SOFT golf ball delivers incredible performance, premium, soft feel and a great price compared to similar competitive golf balls.”

Testing shows that against competitive soft golf balls, DUO SOFT has the softest compression and lowest driver spin off the tee**. Its unique construction delivers long and stable flight that helps golfers find more fairways, allowing for better iron and wedge spin to attack more pins.

DUO SOFT features include:

Velocity boosting additive in core for increased distance: The core of DUO SOFT is specially formulated for maximum energy return. The result is shots that fly farther and launch easier with less effort.

Low compression core and mid-hardness cover for softest feel: With its carefully calibrated constriction, DUO SOFT delivers incredible overall performance with the premium soft feel players love.

Low driver spin rate for straighter ball flight: Optimized aerodynamics mean reduced driver spin for long carry, straighter shots and more fairways.

The upgraded two-piece DUO SOFT is part of Wilson’s premium golf ball line that includes the four-piece urethane Staff Model and the three-piece urethane Triad. DUO SOFT is available in white, green, orange, red and yellow, in addition to NFL team logoed options. The DUO SOFT ball is available on and select retailers for $22.99 per dozen.
