2022 Augusta National Women’s Amateur Champion Anna Davis Receives Sponsor Exemption to the Palos Verdes Championship

Davis to Make LPGA Tour Debut at Palos Verdes; Joins Wake Forest Junior Rachel Kuehn as Sponsor Exemptions for Southern California’s Newest LPGA Tour event

(PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif.) – Tournament organizers announced today that 16-year old Anna Davis, the 2022 Augusta National Women’s Amateur champion, received and accepted a sponsor exemption to compete in the Palos Verdes Championship presented by Bank of America, Southern California’s new LPGA Tour event taking place April 28-May 1 at Palos Verdes Golf Club.

A high-school sophomore from Spring Valley, Calif., Davis overcame a two-shot deficit coming into the final round at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, which was contested at the famed Augusta National Golf Club. Davis’ closing round of 69 elevated her to finish at 1-under par for the 54-hole championship, the only competitor to finish under-par.

An AJGA All-American and a member of the 2021 U.S. Junior Solheim Cup Team, Davis captured two wins in 2021, including a seven-stroke win in the Girls Junior PGA Championship. In addition to her win at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, Davis has recorded top-four finishes in all five of her World Amateur Golf Ranking starts in 2022. Davis will make her LPGA Tour debut at the Palos Verdes Championship presented by Bank of America.

Davis joins Wake Forest junior Rachel Kuehn, winner of the 2022 Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes Golf Club in March, as sponsor exemptions for the Palos Verdes Championship presented by Bank of America.

They will be joining a strong international field that features nine of the world’s top-10 players currently slated to play in the event, which will be the second of back-to-back weeks of LPGA Tour competition in Los Angeles. The Palos Verdes Championship presented by Bank of America’s final field list will be announced later this week.
