The Sandbox to open on May 1 – Mammoth Dunes set for May 31
(ROME, Wis.) – Sand Valley Golf Resort announced a pair of key dates to look forward to in the 2018 golf season:
May 1, 2018 - The Sandbox will open for play. The 17-hole, par-3 course designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw provides an intimate connection to the sand county landscape of central Wisconsin. It’s a fun and wild ride of unique shot-making opportunities – including a chance to play the entire course with only a putter.
May 31, 2018 - Mammoth Dunes will open for play. In 1999, Mike Keiser tabbed a relatively unknown Scottish architect to design the first course at Bandon Dunes. Now, nearly 20 years later, David McLay Kidd returns to work with the Keiser family to design Mammoth Dunes. Mammoth Dunes is one of the most highly-anticipated new courses in recent memory.
The two openings come on the heels of one of the most popular new courses as Sand Valley Golf Resort introduced heathland golf set amid the prehistoric sand dunes of central Wisconsin by opening its first course, Sand Valley, on May 2. Sand Valley was a tremendous hit, including being named by GOLF Magazine and Golf Digest as the Best New Course of 2017.
"The feedback we’ve received from many of our loyal guests has been truly remarkable and we are excited to deliver more great golf memories with new offerings at Sand Valley Golf Resort,” said owner and managing director Michael Keiser, Jr.
In addition to the two new golf courses in 2018, Sand Valley Golf Resort will be opening an intimate residential community, additional lodging, new practice facility, expanded clubhouse with additional dining and a grass tennis court complex during the season.
