(Winter Springs, FL) - Turf Life, the brand that salutes the consumer and industry "players" everywhere whose lives involve turf, announced today that they are presenting their October 2016
Servin' Turf Award to "The Memory of Arnold Palmer".
The Servin' Turf Award (a word play on Surf & Turf) honors and celebrates a Turf Industry Professional, Facility or Organization that has gone above and beyond to create and/or maintain an outstanding and sustainable turf environment.
"Over the years, I've had the pleasure of meeting with Mr. Palmer several times, most recently in April 2016," said Terrie Purdum, Founding Farmer of Turf Life, Inc. "Arnold Palmer was the epitome of class and professionalism. In my opinion, no other person has done as much for the game of golf and he will never be forgotten. His humble background and plain-spoken popularity helped change the perception of golf as an elite, upper-class pastime to a more populist sport accessible to middle and working classes. Arnold learned the game from his father, head professional and greenskeeper at Latrobe Country Club, and often accompanied him on his rounds as he maintained the golf course. I'm so blessed and fortunate to have known Mr. Palmer and Turf Life is proud to honor his life and legacy and present him with our Servin' Turf Award this month."
Nominations for the Servin' Turf Award can be made via e-mail to t.purdum@yahoo.com or by calling Terrie Purdum at (321) 765-4215.
