JT Griffin wins $40,000 Guaranteed Purse SwingThought.com Tour Winter event at Sun 'N Lake

Georgia Tech alum opens with 66, closes with 71 for the win. Binfield, Davidson, Fox, Kim, Wheeldon finish a shot back

(Myrtle Beach, S.C) – Georgia Tech alum J.T. Griffin out of Wilson, N.C. shot an opening round 66 to grab the lead at the three-day $40,000 Guaranteed Purse SwingThought.com Tour Winter Series event held at PGA Tour Latinoamerica Q School host Sun ‘N Lake in Sebring, Fla.

After an even par second round, Griffin posted a one under par 71 in a blistering cold final round to grab the one shot win over five players who finished at six under. That group included Toronto’s Lucas Kim, former Web.com Tour members Wade Binfield, Matt Davidson, and Riley Wheeldon, and 2012 US Amateur Champion Steven Fox.

Griffin earned $12,000 for the win and moved to fourth on the SwingThought.com Tour Money List. The top 60 members on the SwingThought.com Tour Winter Series Money List will have the opportunity to compete in the $50,000 guaranteed purse event to end the season at Red Tail, entry fee still to be determined.
